I am so grateful to be a part of the SLH family and Staff .Having been in the depths , and now recovered from a hopeless state of mind and body ! I feel that it is a duty of mine to show others that there is a solution and a way out , from the grips of addiction . SLH - A 12step based , safe and structured environment to build a foundation to recreate your life!

Sober Living Houston saved my life ! A year ago I was lost and afraid and didn’t know how to get or be sober . I came to SLH and it changed my life . I was welcomed and shown love . I wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for Mike and SLH ! I got a second chance at life because of this place !

Best decision I have ever made! This truly is a family! Staff is passionate, knowledgeable, and makes clients long term recovery their priority. House was clean with great amenities. I still talk to my IOP counselor regularly and am proud to be an alumni of SLH!!!

Hands down the best place place to get and maintain sobriety in the houston area. I definitely recommend it. The staff care and the houses are clean and well managed. They have a family type atmosphere which was great for me to to feel welcomed and at home. I needed that more than i knew.

REGARDLESS of a person's individual circumstances, if one is serious about getting their life on track and is ready and honestly willing to do so, SOBER LIVING HOUSTON will back them 1000%, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. I am living proof of that and can claim no less.

When I got sober, it was suggested to me that I go from a Primary facility to a sober living community. I spent the first 10 months in that community and it helped to radically change my life for the better. It was there that the men taught me how to fill out job applications and resumes. It was there that I learned the true meaning of "Service". I never knew that life could be so wonderful. If you are an alcoholic/drug addict of My type, meaning you can no longer go through life the way you have been, I highly recommend that you follow in the steps of others and join the family at Sober Living Houston

Thank you Jesus for your saving grace. Thank you for bringing me out of the pit of destruction and saving me and tons of your other children. Amen and amen!

I finally surrendered to god and started taking suggestions from wise counsel. Licensed counselors that directed me to go to a sober living where I would learn how to live. Which I finally took that suggestion and came to slh which is where my life changed. And I see other women and men change their life everyday growing to become sober minded from the help of slh staff, iop and php counselors. Most important is that God chose Mike to create slh to save his children's life for his glory. Forever and ever!
This little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine let shine let it shine for you Jesus. Amen! God bless

I never thought I could afford real treatment but thanks to SLH and Take Action Recovery I have received the counseling I desperately needed my whole life. The staff has always treated me like family and nrvet gave up on me. The most professional group therapy, family counseling and one on one sessions with experienced LCDC councilors. I'm forever grateful for the love and support I've been given from Sober Living Houston.

I have been in and out of sober living homes for over 10 years with no successful long-term recovery. Once I moved into Sober Living Houston and did PHP and IOP they helped show me how to live clean and sober and carry the message of sobriety. Michael Hubacek the owner took a chance on my when I had given up on myself and now, thanks to this place I have a life worth living!

Thanks SLH!

It changed my life for the better. I didn't think it was possible. The owner Mike and all the staff actually care about people getting better. There have been so many examples of Mike and Zach going above and beyond to help people. I never knew this whole sober world existed and I'm glad I found it. I do not even know where I would be right now without it. This place inadvertently made me mature immensely and be a MAN that God intended for me to be.

This by far is the most disgusting place of business I have ever seen. The houses are dirty. Filled with mode, old furniture and roaches. Thank God I missed the bedbug stage which I heard was bad. They still exist at the men house tho. You can tell right off the Owner Mike does not take any of the insurance returns and put it back into the comfort of his clients. The staff members are dry drunks even the owner. In my opinion he still use. On the site it's says he's been clean for some time but from the look in his eyes I think different. The owner's mother is rude and is very unprofessional. She claim to be a norm but Im sure she is dealing with some type of mental issue herself. She act as if you owe her something because you are there not like they own you for spending your money with them by staying there. The owner Mike tries to sleep with all the young girls that come thru the center. He was even sleeping with the girl who was suppose to be our house manager. Therefore, the house I lived in was unattended the entire time i stayed there. No supervision at all. This was one of the worse decision I every made in my life and I made it while sober. I came to them trying to continue my sobriety and have a sober support and I got just the opposite. None of my house mates attended meetings. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who is trying to stay sober. However , if u just need a place to lay your head and is tried of being in a over crowded shelter carry on but you better have at less $350 a week to sleep in a bunk-bed in the room with 2 or 3 more people.. Sobriety doesn't live here please keep searching.

I'm always quite vocal about my opinion on many subjects, including SLH. But in response to David Ditch's post: not only did they let you stay after you relapsed, they let you stay several times when you didn't have rent and was weeks late with it. They tried numerous time and different ways to help you save your own life. You refused to do anything other than sit around in your pajamas,, not look for a job, eat all the food in the house, constantly bully your housemates and your elderly roommate for cigs, snacks and money. Out of the said $500 you paid for that last month of rent, your elderly roommate Mr. Steve paid 150. You never paid him back and never thanked him. When SLH North was shut down, your month of rent was transfered over to SLH Spring Branch and you could of moved over like everyone else. But you did not. I told you if you go or do not go, what ever you do, it is your decision. That you are a fifty something year old man. Instead you decided at the last minute to try to take advantage of a retired Marine by sleeping on his couch and not pay him rent. You immediately started drinking and taking pain pills, both to excess. Treating said retired marine and his home very disrespectful, to the point he had to throw you out. If you are truly working an honest A.A. program then you have to look at your part in this chapter of your life. You are not owed anything Mr. Ditch, by anyone. Stop being a victim and get your life together. I love you David you're better than this.

I was told SLH would return my call. Desperately needing a place to live and support in restarting my sobriety, Ive yet to receive a call back. I’ve since called 5-6 times and left multiple voicemails.

UPDATE: 6 months later. I received a call back. Sadly, the first thing I’m told is “your google review ...” yes? “You need to take it down. I told him I just said I wasn’t called back because I hadn’t. He told me well I just called you so you can delete it. I wish his first concern would have been ‘how’re you?’’ Sorry I didn’t reply, what is it u can do to help ... but that’s not his concern. Worried me toiûmuch to go.

There’s a special place in hell for people who prey on the most vulnerable. I really hope this place gets bought up by some strong women. Sober living in Houston needs more women leadership.

I stayed at this dump when I first got to Houston in 2011. Over crowded, kids sleeping on the couches, never any food. And most of the time you had to literally fight to get something to eat. And when there was nasty frozen pizzas. Mike was and what I hear still is a pill head junkie. Runs insurance scams, will bleed you dry, tries to use strong arm tactics to get money out of poor people that are already struggling to just get sober. There are much better places to go if you are really serious about getting sobriety.

As a mental health provider in the greater Houston area, we are all painfully aware of this program and extremely embarrassed it continues operating.

Don’t waste your time or money on this place.
Sober living Houston will take as much money as they can get out of you. We were vulnerable and needed to find sober living for our son in Texas. We drove 1300 miles and only had a couple days to find a place. They knew our situation and took advantage of us. There is no sliding scale that I’m aware of. In a phone conversation Mike Hubacek jr said they would deal with my son’s inner child...Not!!
The main person we established a connection with called us when our 3 months was up and said my son needed a more intense plan and so I should commit to at least 2 more months.
The pitch was convincing but they didn’t want to include my son on his own treatment plan. That was a red flag. Our connection relapsed and went back to treatment so another SLH person started hounding me for money. I never heard from these people unless they needed money! I had NO one to talk to. Since then I have heard they are under investigation. If your son or daughter has insurance they are a golden goose. Please, please, please do not send your loved one here. Specifically, the SLH that Mike Hubacek is associated with

My son went to the Bauer House last year and he was comfortable and liked the guys. I do think its a good sober living home if you are ready. My son wasn't. I was asked to pay 3500$ and that would cover my son for 3 months rent plus IOP which had not started yet. I was worried about paying that much in case my son left the next day. I was assured that would not happen. My money would be given back. My son relapsed and was asked to leave before the IOP or rent started for the 3 months. The rent was current. At first I thought my son would go back so I told B to hold off on returning my money. My son got worse and was hospitalized several times. I have been calling and texting and many times ignored. I even said to keep 500$ and just give me the 3000$. It was agreed per B and the owner that I would be given 750$ a month for 4 months. I have been waiting and waiting. Last month I was told the payments would start in April or May because IOP $ would be coming in. I called over 2 weeks ago and was told check was in the mail. As of today, still no check and now B is telling me that the contract that I did not see or sign stated it was non refundable. I feel like they took advantage of the situation with my son being a drug addict. I do think there is some good guys but I think its ALOT ABOUT THE MONEY. I was promised I would get my money back and now their story is changing. I will hope and pray I get the money so I can pay for the Rehab that my son is currently in and doing well. If not, I will be contacting someone in the legal field to help me get it.
Good Luck to everyone and their families that is struggling. Its a sad situation. I don't enjoy posting this but the addicts and families are vulnerable and should not be taken advantage like this. Prayers!!

Mike Hubacek and his staff at Sober Living Houston have changed my daughter's life. The individualized care, and the Family atmosphere that embraced her from the moment she arrived in Houston, have restored a confidence that I was losing hope of ever seeing again. She is now a determined and maturing young woman, and I couldn't be more thankful for this amazing program.
