I should have wrote this 2 years ago when Robert helped us with our HOA who was harassing us for political reasons, he took them on and WON our case! Forever grateful to this generous and kind man! Plus, he is just super interesting guy who we could listen to all day long!!!!

My interactions with Tankel Law have been to say at the least, very unpleasant. His fees and tactics for collecting a $150 HOA fee have been abusive. I'm sure the rebutle from Mr. Tankel will be that his firm is within the rights of the law but he has no regard for the people he interacts with. Our roof was damaged last year in the hurricane and when I contacted the firm to make payment arrangements and explain that we had just paid $4500 to have our roof repaired and our budget was very tight they insisted we pay more than we could afford at the time. While I have every intention of paying what is owed, I feel that the fees and threats to take our home have been excessive. We've now been charged approximately $1000 for $150 HOA fee that was late. I would like to mention that we were never sent a reminder for the HOA dues, which would have negated the need for any of this. I'm sure that Tankel law feels that they are providing a needed service but I'm not sure they have any care for the stress and hardship they cause to families in the process.

As a first time homeowner, I had no experience with HOAs. My HOA failed to send me a notice when it was time to send in my dues, and instead of reaching out to me to let me know, the board chose to unleash Mr. Tankel's firm on me. The important thing to know is that Mr. Tankel does not charge HOAs any money for his services, and instead relies on extracting fines and fees from homeowners to make money. The first communication I received about my dues was via a notice being placed on my front door informing me that Mr. Tankel's firm had placed a lien on my home. When I called to find out what had happened, I learned that my small HOA fee, that I had never received a notice asking me to pay, had grown into thousands of dollars in fines. I consulted a (more reputable) attorney to find out how I can fight it, and he told me that while I would likely win a case against this vicious law firm, it would cost me more than the amount of money they were asking me for to hire an attorney to do it. I decided to settle, and get these scumbags out of my life.

My appeal to those who run Community Associations: While Tankel's services may seem appealing, because he does not charge you any money for his services, please know that you will be turning your members over to a truly vicious law firm that has no interest in improving your community. A law firm whose business model is to punish and extract as much cash out of your community as possible. You are not doing your community any favors when you hire this firm, you are only hurting people. You get what you pay for.

Missed my annual hoa payment and instead of getting a reminder notice in the mail I got served and owe $2,700 instead of $400. Amazing how I can legally get ripped off. Flabbergasted. Sad to see how they can get away with this. The other sad part is that if I need assistance from the hoa to repair a structural issue I get 0 from them. I can call and email them weekly with no response. A one way street

Excessive fees. They basically put the screws to homeowners, leaving no choices but bad ones. Effective and ruthless are interchangeable words when dealing with this office. Effective for client HOAs in the short term I guess. Ruthless for anyone that overlooks an HOA bill. Surprised there is not some type of reasonable consumer protection recourse available in this property/business sphere.

they never answer the phone they have not applied a payment i made four months ago and still are charging me daily interest on a balance that is much higher then it is supposed to be if the balance was correct i would pay it off but it is not if they could answer the phone we could correct this but many attempts have been made but yet i keep getting nothing have a wonderful day sorry for anyone who has to deal with such people.

I received a Notice of Intent To Record a Claim of Lien for an HOA payment that I thought was made via ACH. I contacted them repeatedly over the course of 2 days via phone and email. 48 hours later I finally got an email response saying that the preferred communication is email and that she would not speak with me over the phone. I expressed my frustration to her regarding a bill of $385 for a missed $75 payment. I asked if we could speak about this since I felt it was a little excessive. Still she refused to speak with me over the phone. I replied via email that I would just like to get this taken care of and paid immediately. It has now been 2 days since my last correspondence and I have yet to hear back. As a company charging what I feel is an excessive fee for a missed $75 payment I would expect to be able to speak with someone in order to resolve the matter. I feel that it's unprofessional to converse solely via email. I do understand that collections are not fun and customers can be irate, but that isn't an excuse for not calling or resolving matters promptly.
