Ben was a horrible lawyer for me. He pawned me off to his paralegal. I had 6 continuances, never got any phone calls just emails. When strictly said do not email me. I would even call to see if we had court that day, nobody would answer so I would drive to the court house. Find out that there was another continuance from my ex that was sitting at home. 2500 dollar retainer was spent emediatly and all in all it cost me about 4500 and I got a worse parenting plan than what my ex was even asking for... Ben is a Beast when negotiating! He is not part of the good ol' boys club which is refreshing. Always looks out for my best interest even when I am not. My divorce is no where near complete but glad he is on my side.
I initially thought that I had struck gold when I hired Mr Platt and his team to help me with my case. His reviews are amazing. Everyone is so nice. They get back to you really quick. This is all true! I wont deny that. But he failed me. My divorce went to trial and lasted for 4 days!!!! He forgot to ask my witness questions...she was only on stand for maybe 20 minutes while my exs mother was on stand for several hours. He was unprepared, probably because my case SHOULD have been a black and white open and closed case. But...He didn't bring documentation that would have easily disproved many of the things that were being said against me. He lost his phone the first day of trial and was more worried about that than my case. He was flustered and aggressive and it didn't go well with the judge. The final day....he left halfway though and had his paralegal finish. When all was said and done everything sucked. But we had a few ways to counter it. We COULD have written a letter of reconsideration. I wanted him to do it. The day came to file it and it hadn't been done and he convinced me to appeal the case instead. I wanted to do both but he assured me that a letter of reconsideration would be a waste of money so I reluctantly accepted his proposal. And he made a deal with me for the appeal, he and I worked out an agreement regarding payment on it and he backed out last minute because even though he "lost" my case initially, I wouldn't be able to pay him ANOTHER retainer fee. Honestly, I think more than anything he was embarrassed that everything went so horribly and just gave up but that isn't my fault. And one more thing....they will nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. I had on my invoice a charge for $17.50 for his paralegal to email me "Thank you".....because I told her not to do something because I took care of it myself.
