They were supposed to act as guardian Ad Litem for my Daughter, but in my opinion failed to follow up properly and she suffered for it. This is to the Response from Owner - the case was from 2005 to 2008. Perhaps you didn't go back far enough. Pat Sandfur was my attorney at the time and could probably give you the case number as I no longer have it.

Family law is by its very nature, unpleasant. When I hear of these expensive cases I know that most likely these costly cases are the result of gross failures by the attorneys involved. The respective attorneys allowed the environment and emotions to rise to the level that they forced a judge to make a decision that they could not achieve inexpensively and competently in the best interest of their clients. Good drama for television, bad results for you as once you enter the courtroom, the costs simply explode and usually a judge’s decision will make both parties unhappy.

Mars handled my divorce recently. It was a bit complicated with a business involved. I recommended this law firm to my boyfriend for help with his divorce because I had heard that P. Mars Scott was held in high regard, especially by other attorneys. Seldom have I had an experience with highly paid professionals who were as consistently unresponsive in terms of communication and deliverables as Ryan Phelan and Simon Fickinger at this firm. In the beginning, P. Mars Scott met with my boyfriend, but then exited as Ryan and Simon apparently took over the contract, without that personnel change ever having been made explicit. For the next half year, and nearly 20k worth of bills, many of which I covered, these people did the bare minimum. Phone calls were rarely returned. Email responses from this team were even more rare. Most of the action items discussed in in-person meetings were simply dropped. Yet in-person meetings - scheduled only by begging the reticent receptionist to do so - were the only way to get any response at all from Ryan and Simon. A restraining order, spring break parenting schedules, therapist permission signatures - all were stuck in the congested pipeline named We Haven't Heard Back From The Lawyer. Simon often didn't bother remembering or consulting basic scheduling details. He didn't follow up on anything. He also was condescending and had a chip on his shoulder about correct legal terminology. I could go on and on. Save your sanity and funds. Seek legal counsel elsewhere!

I appreciated the legal services of P.Mars Scott. Before I hired him, he explained options available to handle the divorce myself if desired.

P. Mars works closely with his paralegals. The paralegals do much of the leg work and do an excellent job of relaying the nuances of the case to Mars My paralegal always responded to my questions/concerns in a timely manner, usually the same or next day.

When working directly with Mars, I found him ethical, methodical, composed, and thorough. He was upfront regarding the costs of presenting a case in front of a judge, while presenting the strengths of weaknesses of the case. I relied heavily on those qualities throughout this difficult process.

I CANNOT recommend this law firm!!! Recently, my wife had the displeasure of doing business with this law firm. The telephonic consultation resulted in a lot of stalling for time to review our file, despite it being sent in advance, and most importantly, she received erroneous information which resulted in having to resubmit her legal paperwork to the courthouse and having her humiliation exposed to the opposing attorney. She wrote a letter of complaint to Mr. P. Mars Scott and his response was even more insulting. He said that after a review of our meeting and after speaking with his attorney, he felt "confident that the representation (she) received was both accurate and professional, yet is clear from your letter that you are not satisfied. I hope you find satisfaction with your present consulting attorney." Needless to say, spoken like a true lawyer -- deny everything.

My advice to you -- run far away from Mr. P. Mars Scott's firm. Based on our experience with his attorney, I believe you too will 'not be satisfied'.

Nice response from the P. Mars Scott office. The only problem with their response is they don't state that the legal advice they provided was wrong. Regarding the statement about going over the time limit, we paid the prescribed fee for one hour of consultation. According to them and unbeknownst to us, that one hour apparently included the "supposed" review of our material before our actual telephone consultation. If that was the case, then why did our attorney have to review our file during our call so extensively and thus waste our time? Also, for Mr. Scott's office to say that this matter was with another agency, that is also very misleading, since the attorney that works for Montana Legal Advisors also works for Mr. Scott's firm. Furthermore, once we addressed all of this in a written letter to Mr. Scott's office, he returned a written response on his 'P. Mars Scott' letterhead.

As I stated before. I CANNOT recommend this firm nor Montana Legal Advisors (for that matter) to anyone and as such, if I can, I will post a review for Montana Legal Advisors. Lastly, the law firm I eventually found and went with charges a FRACTION of this firm's price and has been EXTREMELY helpful in helping us to navigate the legal system in dealing with our particular matter.
