Fred is highly unprofessional. He can barely schedule an appointment and when he does he leaves out major details and makes last min changes.

Getting any information from them is like pulling teeth, but they go out of their way to harass you for payment. My results were acceptable but their service is really questionable and at this point I don't trust their professionalism one bit. I would recommend looking elsewhere. Many of these 5 star reviews honestly seem fake to me.

I’d recommend Portland Bankrupcy Attorney Northwest to all my friends. The attorney(s) were very kind, helpful and very easy to talk to. The helped us tremendously when we were first struggling with our debt, scared and didn’t know quite what to do until we met these folks. These guys are true professionals and know exactly what to do.
The team here takes that extra mile to ensure the clients are always 100% satisfied.

Over the course of five years I've been with a few lawyers and I think Jeff is one of the worst. I've done nothing but hunt them down needing help and asking questions and I get nothing but attitude and belittled. They make you feel like a complete inconvenience and they're utterly rude. This is something that's a big deal to our lives that's life-changing and it's expensive and we get treated just like garbage when they no longer receive money for us. I would never recommend this place to anyone!

Nice people, non-judgmental and supportive of a hard time. The paralegal was not as prepared as I had expected, causing us to do a lot more of the footwork, but I've seen on Linked-In that that person is no longer working for NWDRLF. The actual lawyer was great.

Fast, effective, knowledgeable and one of the very few Attorney's who is NOT out to rip you off. I wish all Attorney's practiced the way Mr. McAvity and his law firm do. I highly recommend NW Debt relief if you need help!

The process of bankruptcy is hard, but getting their services will only make it harder. I made an appointment to meet with the lawyer. Showed up to my appointment only to find out I didn't have one. They "kindly" squeezed me in (well I had already paid them and had a deadline, so it was the least they could do).

They told me we will need this information, but no deadline, I assume I had until closer to my court date, but I was incorrect. I got a message during a very busy time for me saying that I needed to have everything for them in less than a week from that message, which happened to be a week sooner than I had planned on getting the information to them.

Also I had to call several times for them to get the paper work to my employer to stop a garnishment, meanwhile I received very conflicting information from their staff: first the message was that there was nothing they could do, which I am still baffled that they said that; then I was told that they had already sent the paperwork when as a matter of fact they had not. Every fax the company where I work receives is documented, and they only faxed AFTER I complained. Also it was only when I asked for what they were saying in writing, that they bothered to follow up and clarify the situation and do their jobs.

I have been given little to no instructions on what to expect or what will happen next, the surprises just keep coming.

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. They truly don't care about you, they just want your money and will do the absolute least amount of work they can for it. I know I am not an exception based on the phone calls I overheard at their office.

Most of the 5 star reviews you see are from their staff or likely paid.

Mr. McAvity's firm is hands down the best bankruptcy and debt relief firm in the Portland area. If you have such an issue anywhere in Oregon, they are your go to firm. Highly recommended.

They were fast efficient, smart, easy to work with and VERY affordable. Took the pain out of the process and made it simple to get back on track rebuilding my credit. I've already improved my credit score and we only wrapped things up a couple months ago! Trustworthy and dependable that was the most important thing to me.

Not only were they not helpful and took forever to answer questions, like their paid to do, they took payments from us that we didn't approve them to do and it not only once but TWICE did it over draft my account. They refunded the money but refused to pay the fee that we were then charged from our bank because of THEIR MISTAKE. Alyssa the paralegal is unprofessional and rude. They were talked to several times about not taking payments. Alyssa "forgot the write a note to herself " to remind her to stop the payments from coming out. Then threw it in our face that we would be starting our payments later than usual.

I DO NOT recommend them!

Both myself and my daughter have used this firm for CH 13. Both of our experiences have not been good.

They cannot find documentation you send multiple times.

They will not answer questions.

Alyssa, the receptionist, has zero customer service skills (rude and short tempered) and will not help you in anyway. Phone conversations with her are pointless as all she does is put you on hold (until you hang up) or transfer you.

In my daughters case, after 2 years, the only payments made are to the lawyer, none to the outstanding debt.

This law firm is by far the most upfront, honest and patient to deal with while having to file bankruptcy. I was so scared the first time I walked into Thomas office. We assured me that I was not the only one going through trying times. He wrote out every step of what he needed from me, what I should expect through the process and his fees. I know that I must of asked the same questions over and over but he stayed patient with me. One of the most impressive things is that he responds back to e-mails and phone calls fast. I never felt that I had to keep calling to get my answers. This firm will fight for you and help put your mind at ease. I am now having to return to him to convert my case over to a chapter 7 from a chapter 13. It has been 3 years since I had talked to Tom but when I called him he acted like it had only been weeks. He is taking on my conversion with added distance since I moved to Montana 2 years ago. My mind is at ease knowing it is in his hands now. I would suggest calling Tom first to see what your options are. All the staff is very non-judgemental.
