Recently went through a case, and Alecia helped me out immensely. They were always available to answer questions, and were well prepared fmwith the law vs opinion. Would recommend for anyone looking for a quality law firm.

I married an attorney who did not want to divorce, but we needed to part ways. Dan's good counsel regarding how to manager the process certainly was not the the way to build fees, but it worked perfectly. I am very pleased with the process Dan uses and his approach. II led to two great outcomes: First I am divorced and the outcome is very reasonable. Second I am divorced and I am happy with who I am and the integrity with which we conducted ourselves as attorney / client. I suspect 20 years from now... no wait 20 seconds. #2 is going to matter more. Dan's a great attorney. But Dan's a good man and that probably matters most.

In the state of Oregon, specifically Clackamas and Washington counties, there are deplorable statistics for fathers. Ive read anywhere between 3% to 8% of fathers get primary/sole custodial rights. In today’s culture, society; in the era of the “me too” movement, this isn’t an acceptable statistic. Dads are an integral and absolutely necessary figure in their children’s world. When it came time to go through my own custody dispute, I Knew I could not accept being an every other weekend parent. I couldn’t accept being a dad on the fringe. Every father has that friend; the all too common weekend warrior in the separated families of this country... the guy watching his kids grow up... especially in Oregon.

I love my children. Being a dad is the coolest and most amazing responsibility/gift I’ve ever had. The prospect of having 4 days a month wasn’t an option though and frankly it terrified me. I felt that was too much lost time I could never make up. I chose to commit to do everything in my power to ensure a better presence in my child’s life. I knew it would be an uphill battle. Literally a hell of a fight. I knew everything was stacked against me; the courts, the existing law. I knew the stress, time, burdens would be overwhelming.

And to be honest, the fight just to have what should be guaranteed parenting rights, let alone custody or primary parenting was literally the most exhaustive, horrifying and unbelievable process I’ve ever had to do. I was well informed this would be the case. And even so you cannot truly be prepared. If you’re a middle aged man, you’ve likely watched and consoled a friend like me... if you’re reading this, maybe it’s you.

So there came a day when I was forced to make that decision to take control of my custodial rights. No one was going to hand that to me and I wasn’t satisfied to be a sidelined dad. To me what was at stake was the single most important little human/s in the universe. Either I fought for a better life for what I felt was their right to have their dad or again.... sidelined... for 18+ years. It was an easy choice to make.

Finding the right advocate though, that’s not. I can tell you in all honesty when you need to find an advocate, if you’re making a choice to fight for your family, Mr. Margolin may be the finest counsel for family rights in the state. He is one of the absolute best attorney’s in Portland, specifically for family law. He knows the judges. He knows the family evaluators. He knows the law. He knows the courts, the process and he can stand with you such that whatever does happen, you know at the end you’ll have done everything in your power to have the best representation and advocacy there is.

Some things in life, when the final decision is made, requires the absolute best and Dan helped me be a father to my children. I highly recommend him.

PS: his staff, paralegals and assistants are all amazing and brilliant.
