The lawyers and staff at Burns and Hansen were there for me and my family when we needed them most. They had the best interests of my child at the center of their plans and educated me on how to achieve realistic goals through our proceedings. They were always ready and willing to discuss things when I had questions. They go above and beyond for their clients. They helped me feel supported and confident in the midst of the confusing family court system.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I was told things were happening that weren’t and still charged for them. I edited petitions. The lawyer used incorrect names in court. We lost our case due to not having the things done we were told would be and still got charged for. I had my charges estimated at $1,500.00 when I first retained them. I paid that and they are now charging me $3,150.00 more. They stated this was fine because I signed an agreement stating the first was an estimate and not a set price. (They must suck at “guess how many are in the jar”) After our case, multiple voicemails were left in regards to my bill and how to resolve. None were returned until I stated if I didn’t hear back, I would assume they considered my bill paid in full. Half an hour later, a secretary called me back and scheduled a phone call with me and the lawyer. The lawyer did not make this phone call when scheduled and did not contact me until 2 days later. They are now threatening ME to take me to court or garnish my wages. DO NOT GO WITH THIS FIRM!!! I will be filing a complaint to the Board of Ethics.

I had a very complicated parenting time modification case that took a lot of time, attention, and detail. I was told up front that I would have a good chance at getting my order changed but there's never a guarantee. My attorney Jean Paul was patient with me and showed compassion for my son's situation. Patrick Burns helped with my case as well and treated me the same. I am so thankful to have had such a great team on my side. I would trust any attorney with my case at Burns and Hansen. Jean Paul & Patrick, from the bottom of my heart I thank you.

Terrible service. I submitted information via their website, explaining my need, and seeking a consultation. Their promise is to respond back within a couple of days. Heard nothing for 2 weeks. Then I called, and whoever answered the phone, took my information, and said that someone would be calling me back either that same day, or the next at the very latest. That was a week ago. I understand that my needs may not result in a significant number of billable hours, but exceptional customer service is always the hallmark of exceptional organizations, and vice versa. I would give zero stars at this point if I could.

So, after my first post, Burns and Hansen asked if I would give them an opportunity to make things right, and give them another opportunity to serve me. So I called their front desk, talked with the same woman who I spoke with the first time. She said she would go back and find my initial email/consultation request, and promised to get back to me. It was late in the afternoon and she said she would respond by the next morning. That was at least a week ago. Since then? Crickets.

I am not sure where the problem lies with this organization. I do need some insight as to whether my issue is worth pursuing, but have received horrible follow up from this firm - twice.

Please do not use them. Very unresponsive! They often have no idea what they are doing. Encountered challenges with billing too.

I have been a client of Burns and Hansen going on 2+ years. There are two things about them I like most: 1. Their willingness to create a custom legal solution based on my needs and experience. For example, if I need help with an eviction, they will take it off my hands completely, come in for any piece of the process I am struggling with, or simply answer my questions/give advice. 2. When I reach out to my attorney for help, I am usually (not always) feeling very stressed and overwhelmed. How quick I can get a hold of him/her is important; they are always extremely responsive and caring. Honest, caring, affordable, and knowledgeable is a perfect depiction of my experiences with them.

They don't listen. They only hear what you have to say.

Eric Hansen is the best Lawyer in town.

Mr. Burns made a huge mistake in my case by stating I could move forward with a foreclosure action when I could not. He then withheld this critical information for 60 days. I filed a complaint with the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility. Unresponsive and incompetent.

Please keep in mind, I have not had many reasons to hire a lawyer in my life. However, I thought that they were supposed to work FOR you and help you. My experience with Patrick Burns was far less than satisfactory. He did not care to listen to anything I had to say, he didn't spend the time on my case as he should have, it was apparent how little he cared, he messed up my case, and then he sent me a huge bill on top of the retainer for things like "staff meeting " for 3 hours at $275/hour, sending an email $125, etc.

I feel scammed. I would not recommend him at all.

If you're in a position where you need legal counsel, the most important consideration is simple: time. Will the attorney invest time in your case? Will you be able to spend time with your lawyer to discuss the dispute? And can you feel confident your case is a top priority for your attorney?

We've had good and less-good legal counsel in the past, but Erik Hansen and the entire team at Burns & Hansen have exceeded our expectations and delighted us with their compassion, empathy, professionalism, and discipline to keep their case loads at the level where we as clients are generously provided time, support, honest guidance and muscular legal representation. This firm is outstanding.
