Whenever our family needs a lawyer I have offered her number to them
Using AM negatively impacted our entire family and is, by far, the single worst financial and legal decision our family ever made.
We don't know if the billing errors were intentional, simply due to incompetence, or something else - we DO know that AM refused to correct them.
If you hear AM utter the words "slam dunk", asking for a written guarantee might not be a bad idea.
After our family member lost the case while being represented by AM, AM was asked if our family member could SELF-appeal. AM's response was "No. I don't even do them . . . there are only 3 attorney's (sic) in San Diego that even do appellate work." Further, AM was asked if someone is out of luck if they have no means to file for appeal (i.e., no income). AM's response was simply "Yes".
There is a silver lining, however: Having had the painful "benefit" of realizing that accepting AM's advice could be a grave mistake, our family member discarded AM's words of "wisdom" and SUCCESSFULLY SELF-APPEALED. I think it's very telling that our family member, a NON-attorney, consistently lost in court and ultimately in a move-away trial while AM was involved but then prevailed after dumping AM and self-appealing.
The bottom line: AM's legal "representation" caused our family a lot of heartache and resulted in our wasting a ton of money; in the end, however, not listening to AM saved us from spending even more money on another attorney for the appeal, plus our family didn't have to take the risk of accidentally again getting involved with someone like AM.
UPDATE: Ms. McIntosh responded to my review, stating that I misrepresented the case, that I still don't understand the case, and that it was her excellent trial work that paved the way for a successful self-appeal.
Ms. McIntosh, here's your opportunity to state ONE thing that I misrepresented.
As for your contention that it was your self-described excellent work that paved the way for our family member's successful SELF-appeal (i.e., without an attorney), WOW, is your inflated ego blocking your memory? Did you or did you not state that our family member had no chance of prevailing via appeal (we kept the email exchange and can post the thread if you'd like)? You stated YOU don't even do appeals - on behalf of anyone considering an appeal, let me just say "thank you!".
Re: my not understanding the case, I understand the case AND THE LAW pertaining to the case extremely well. Perhaps you can explain where you once, JUST ONCE, made the proper argument before the trial court - you know, the argument that allowed our family member to prevail upon self-appeal? Let me know if you don't understand what that point is and if you'd like me to explain it to you. Also, please explain when you were successful even once in the numerous hearings leading up to the trial. In my opinion, "grossly incompetent" describes how you handled the case - our family member didn't prevail BECAUSE of you but rather in SPITE of you.
Your response appears to have a "let it go" attitude. Quite frankly, I don't care how many years it's been since our family, unfortunately, met you, as my goal is to point out how much heartache we could have been spared and how much money we wouldn't have wasted if our family member had self-represented from the beginning rather than hiring you.
