Sat down with someone for a free consultation (sorry can't remember his name!) and explained our situation. Despite it being a free consult, he took the time to listen to everything and explain everything to us. He also gave us 2 options to proceed with (one being hiring him to help us take care of it or taking care of it ourselves). He actually recommended that we do it ourselves and save money rather than wasting it for an attorney. He gave us advice and we went on our way. Day of everything happened exactly like he said it would and the situation was resolved. Thankful for kind, honest people that aren't just trying to make a quick buck!

If I could rate this lawyer Todd 0 stars I would. The ladies at front desk are very courteous I have to say. He on the other end, very obnoxious and condescending. I went in for a 30 min free consultation so I could get some advice on family law matters. He must have assumed I was poor or something because right off the bat he said "I'm very expensive, I can recommend Lindsay for u ". I almost felt like he was prejudiced I hate to say, and I'm not one to make such assumptions. Kept cutting me off during whole conversation, talked down at me as if I was stupid, and appeared to be wasting his time with me. His whole demeanor showed he had better things to do. Even proceeded to answer phone call during our "meeting" , seemed very disinterested. Mr Todd, for future reference, dont offer "free consultation " if you're gonna be so annoyed. And FYi, we could have afforded to hire u as my husband and I make well over $300 K a year. Not much perhaps, but we are still decent people. There was no need to treat me as such, assuming I couldn't "afford to pay u, as u are very expensive ". I didn't proceed because I felt very disrespected by ur condescending and rude attitude. Not sure what kind of population you are used to serving, I suggest u learn some cultural diversity and treat people equally.

I highly recommend The Shapiro Law Firm for any legal issues that you may face. Highly competent and intelligent. Incredibly thorough and non-judgmental. Compassionate and works extremely hard for you.

This is an excellent law firm. I retained Todd Shapiro and I had a very favorable outcome to my situation. He was very direct in his assessment of my case, willing to answer all of my questions and help me understand the legal process, and responsive whenever I needed to contact him directly. I can genuinely say that Mr Todd Shapiro is someone who I wholeheartedly recommend. I have personally used his services, as he came to me highly recommended, and I know of at least two other people who feel the same. Expect him to be stern and to the point, but his knowledge and care still comes off as human. I encourage you to do your research, but Mr Todd Shapiro comes with my highest of recommendations.

Will not ever hire or recommended this firm again. I have never slandered or told a lie about your law firm. It's all about money with this firm . Either pay more or get a court appointed lawyer is what I was told and when you question them on how something is going they get an attitude. Now we are working with the Innocent Project to help our son. I guess 10,000 dollars does not go far with this firm.

Great Firm

I would like to let anyone and everyone know that Todd Shapiro is the most tuned in attorney in the region. He is not only the most astute but he knows people and the inter workings of the judicial system. He has saved me from a lot of potential damage and has gave me a chance on moving in life. He might be a little proud- he has every right to be- he’s a bulldog in the courts (quietly)!

Howard Shapiro: Dishonest billing practices, lack of communication, poor representation. Had to fire him. (see edit below for my response to the owner's response)

BILLING: His contract uses deceptive language to trick you into thinking the fee arrangement is something other than what it is. He does this by using language that most people assume is a typical retainer fee agreement (where any balance of funds will be returned upon completion of the case), but he buries a few lines of legalese in the contract that ensures he keeps all fees even if the case is settled quickly. This incentivizes him to do the bare minimum necessary to get a settlement (or possibly dismissal) so he can keep the entire balance of the retainer with as little effort as possible.

POOR REPRESENTATION: Because of the billing structure, Howard was giving me poor legal advice and capitulating to opposing counsel at every step. Additionally, he did not review documents and submitted documents to the court that stalled the case and entered me into bad legal arrangements that any high-integrity lawyer would have never allowed. This dereliction of duty alone cost me thousands of dollars during my case. Also, he was never prepared for meetings and didn't know basic facts about my case.

LACK OF COMMUNICATION: If you hire him, be prepared to be ghosted for weeks at a time. I had to email and call multiple times over several weeks before I would get a response.

SUMMARY: If you still want to hire Howard, make sure you read the entirety of the contract. He will try to pressure you into signing it on the spot using car salesman-like tactics. I recommend avoiding this law firm entirely and going with a more honest and reputable law firm for you family law matters.

Edit: It is clear that if you look carefully through the reviews on this site and others relating to family law matters, there is a pattern of complaints about deceptive billing, lack of professionalism, and overall poor representation, especially as it pertains to Howard. I felt obligated to warn readers what they will encounter if they hire Howard. My only grudge is that I unfortunately had to terminate Howard for very poor representation. A lawyer should be transparent with fees and always advocate for his or her client.

Went thru a rough divorce with a non-reasonable ex. Couldn't ask for a better Lawyer. OUTSTANDING,,, Howard Shapiro is a professional, respectable, negligible lawyer. His paralegal Lisa Jones was FANTASTIC!!! She is awesome, having all the answers and handling everything in a timely matter. Having the both of them on my side was the best decision I made during this difficult time in my life. Cant Thank the both of them enough. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LAW FIRM.

Working with the team of Shapiro's, l would have thought my son and I would have been somewhat intimated. Mr Shapiro was very frank with my son. Certainly not in these words, ,"when's the last time you parttook? Yesterday he replied, Mr Shapiro ' are you an idiot??) It was said one time in just a conversational voice, My son responded yes sir I think I might be. The mom can't help you now thing had just hit us square in the eye. After discussing the case in what was only the initial meeting, we walked out with more of a sense of calm and collection, valuable information that will keep my son out of trouble now, but in the future as well.
Now I'm scheduling with the other Mr Shapiro. They both come very highly recommend by many, including his fellow attorneys as well as private investigators and law enforcement. May have guessed by now, the gentleman are father and son. So these two highly and professional men have indeed won over this sceptical mom over.

This is a very rude attorney. The lawyer "assumed" that i didnt have the retainers fee for a child custody case. I felt so disrespected that i just hung up. You do not have to be so mean becuase you never know what a person is going through.

I literally just got off the phone with this so called attorney Howard!!! DO NOT hire him not even 5 minutes into our conversation he was throwing his 7500 dollar rate at me and demanding I give him an answer as to if I am going to hire him or not. Sounded like he was driving, I asked him if he could look up my case so he could better explain to me the temporary orders his response was, "Well I don't do that I am a very busy man". Completely Unprofessional and RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All he cares about is if you can afford to pay him.
