I hired Rita for a child support modification. Worse decision I could've made! I spoke with Rita several times before we met and I retained her. Things seemed to be fine with the modification other than not really being able to communicate with her other than by text. I was told she had been in the hospital, a few times that she was "medicated" was another reason only text messages. I was told by Rita to not contact the other parent regarding the modification because she was cooperating and agreed to not move forward with an increase in support! The day of court the other parent DIDN'T even show up! Of course I'm happy as heck! Things did seem a lil off with Rita at court but whatever, no big deal. Judge goes over the order, papers are being signed, and passed around. Rita finally hands me the order to sign and I leave. A week or so later my employer receives an order to increase money out of my check. I immediately reach out to Rita. After several attempts I finally got her on the phone. Explained to her what was happening and she pretty much told me it was my problem now! Come to find out I was handed papers from Rita in court to sign, which was the order to INCREASE my support. I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how this happened! At this point things with Rita went downhill fast! I've sent a certified letter, emails, texts etc and NO explanation or help from Rita. SO BASICALLY I PAID AN ATTORNEY $2500 TO GO WITH ME TO COURT SO I COULD SIGN AN ORDER TO INCREASE MY SUPPORT!!! I've been told to move forward with a grievance as well as a fee dispute against Rita. If need be small claims court as well! This has not only been a nightmare but also a financial set-back! I'm begging you...do not hire this lady!!!

My opinion?: What a waste of money! This woman is MIA as soon as rubber hits the road. Hardly ever available by phone when things get tough. Case #2: I hired her to WRITE A RESPONSE LETTER, she then engaged in negotiations with opposing counsel without authorization claiming she had it 80% settled and demanded a retainer, screwed up the entire case. Then, at 3PM SUNDAY the day before court she emails me asking for evidence that was given to her 3 months earlier. Shows up unprepared and carrying a Family Law guide from 2015. I was lucky the judge postponed the hearing and I was able to hire a decent attorney. Finally, she does not keep track of her billing. I wish I could upload her pathetic voicemail requesting "Can we just agree that I did $5,000 worth of work?" Once she screws everything up and you file a Texas Bar complaint, she threatens to sue you for slander. If you are dead set on LOSING a case, then I would refer her.

Ms. Rita Boyd was amazing! I could not have asked for a better result. Ms. Boyd was prompt with her initial response to me; and at this first phone consultation she informed me of what steps I needed to take to get the ball rolling on my case. She was available anytime I had questions; emails and phone calls were answered the very next business day and she even contacted me on a weekend when an issue arose. She was honest about my case and the time that would be necessary to complete through the court system; she walked me through all the necessary steps required to get my case handled. She made me fully aware from the very beginning that this would not be an overnight fix. She is only able to go as fast as the law and the courts allow her to go. If anyone needs help or guidance with a family law court case, I will strongly recommend they contact Ms. Boyd. Like I said, she told me my odds from the very beginning and Ms. Boyd completely surpassed the outcome I was hoping for.

So a few weeks ago, 3 weeks to be exact I contact this firm to inquire about her ad on father's for equal rights. The location is 1 mile from my home so I thought it would be good for traveling reasons. A week goes by and no reply. Two weeks go by, and I call and from her tone on the voice message, I decided to contact father's for equal rights instead. Once I became a member for father's for equal rights, everything happened quickly. 3 weeks later today, I received an email from Mrs Boyd reading : "For what purpose would we be meeting?" What do you think we are meeting for? So rude, and not a way to conduct business. Father's if you are trying to win in court, this may not be the best option. Time is essential in situations like this, and I would not be in the situation I am in to receive primary care of my son if I had of waited for her email today. Horrible.
