We were greeted politely. But then a change in the HUD-1 had happened. We needed more funds to close. The customer rep said it was needed for interest. But I didn't understand so I asked for more clarification. Then she explained that it was because our closing date was extended. But the extra funds were needed for taxes. Which as a buyer we were getting a credit for. So that didn't make sense either. So the rep was getting upset with me at this point because I wanted a clear explanation of why I needed more funds to close. After the rep left us in the meeting room for 15 min....
Come to find out that the VA asked the title company to adjust the taxes based on the exemptions the previous owner was getting. This I understood, but was surprised that the VA got those tax exemptions too. So I got 50% less tax credit towards closing. Which I found out about at closing!

Also, they had changed the HUD-1 using a piece of paper with the new tax dates tapped to the document we were signing. Is this even legal?

Then, VA had not called in yet to approve the paperwork. So, they could not give me the keys to the house that we paid cash for. Yes CASH! VA is given to the end of the day to call. The rep told me she would call us Once she heard from them. But it's now 6:00 pm. They haven't called. I called them at 5:15.. no answer!!!
