My husband just received approval for respite care services. They sent someone quickly, but never provided any information about the worker. She was here for 4 days and I never knew her last name, her background, her skill level. This was my first experience with an alternative care provider, so I was not sure what was expected with the staffing agency or what respite care covered as far as job description (as it seems to vary per company). We never had an assessment with the company to find out what we needed, who might suit us or if we had any questions regarding their services. I spoke with a gentleman I could barely understand over the phone and that was it. The worker came in early, but she had only been given 2 hours notice of the job with no idea what was expected of her. My husband is a very high level injury and requires 24/7 care. He is nonverbal, quadriplegic, and we have a very set schedule, as it has just been the 2 of us for 3 years. None of this was considered. The company provided us with more hours than medicaid had approved and 75% of the time the worker was sitting with nothing to do, because she was not fit for our circumstances and the level of injury my husband has. I do not recommend Tambolina to anyone. I called to tell them that the hours were incorrect and that we had chosen to look into other companies as we did not feel like their services were a good fit for our family and the man insisted on finding other reasons why I wanted to leave and finally hung up on me. This is highly unprofessional. I have called 2 other companies and spoken with my caseworker and they all informed me that there should have been an in home consultation/assessment where we could express what we intended on finding in a worker and we could select the person ourselves. I highly suggest anyone looking into Tambolina Services Inc. to look elsewhere.
