I have heard HORROR stories about this place. Seriously, most of them involve them stealing peoples' money and don't help at all. Also, them being very rude and unprofessional about everything they do.

Worst company i have everdealt with, they dont explain anything, get you so confused that your fprced to call and talk to someone at $150/hr and absolutely do not care about you at all. $10,000 and all they did was make mistake after mistake on my divorce. Seriously still give me nigjtmares. 10 grand didnt even get me 25% though am ordinary divorce that was settled befpre trial... They gave me a new lawyer fresh out of school and charged me as if i hired johnny cochrain.... I was in immediate need of an attorney for a child custody dispute and spent many hours combing through lawyers in the Tri-cities. I called offices, read reviews and felt a sense of relief when I spoke with Ashby Law. Finally I had found a law office that cared and was willing to help me at my most desperate hour. After taking my retainer, i was ensured that i would be updated and informed every step of the process. Things took an awful turn when my assigned lawyer left/was fired from the Firm. I found my self in a nightmarish spiral as my "trust account" was being depleted without any real results. I called the office numerous times to have the charges explained, and was met with the standard "this is how these things go" response. At one point I was told i would get refunded for a rough draft parenting plan that was "written" but was never presented to me. the next phone call I was told that i would not be refunded because the changers were legitimate even though they could not provide me with rough draft parenting plan. I was nearly brought to tears as i watched my last $500 disappear out of my "trust Account" faster than i had deposited it. The charges were for "meetings about my case" even though my case had been marked as concluded. I lost $3000 and have gotten no where in my custody case for my children. Ashby Law worries about money above all else, so if you have deep pockets and dont really care about losing $3000 for one court appearance then these are the people for you. If you like myself, and have to cash out your retirement to pay for a lawyer in an emergency, i suggest looking elsewhere.

I hired Ashby Law to represent me in the dissolution of my marriage in Benton County. Going through a dissolution of marriage can be an overwhelming process. I was impressed from the beginning to how ready and fast Ana and Kimberley Powell moved with my case. Any questions I had they made sure I got my answer and that I didn’t leave with my question unanswered. Family court isn’t easy but Ana helped a lot to make sure I understood what was going on and what to expect so I wouldn’t be caught off guard. I was able to tell that Kimberley knew what she was doing and made sure we did everything we needed to be ready to present to the judge. I was able to tell even though I was a client they sincerely cared about my son and I and fought for him just like I wanted.

In order to start you pay 4000 you go to court twice to get to continuances then make you pay another for Grand and then they give you a letter of withdrawal what the heck and then they send you a letter for collections because they did to continuances for you for a grand what a deal

Poor Quality, Professionalism and Integrity

I had a bit of a rough start at ashby law I have to admit, but Sara Herr-Waldroup really turned things around for me. She believed in me getting my daughter back and really fought for it. This to me is what makes her such a great lawyer.

Sucks to even give a star. Firm offered us a $100 consultation to only talk about retainer. Paid retainer for one court date appearance. Lawyer (Robert) asked judge for continuance without discussing it with us. Then ran up over $5000 in charges all while never following the strategic case plan he submitted for our approval after the fact. The best part was opposing party had to submit hours in court booked (an hour) and Robert put he was in court for 2.4 hours. Basically ripped us off everyway possible and refused to refund the unnecessary work no one asked him to do. DO NOT TRUST THEM, THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE!

Would not recommend them at all hired them for two separate custody cases at once ended up not needing them for one case a month later tried to get my retainer back or what was left which should have been the majority considering they had to do nothing with the case after all. Every time I would talk to them about the second case they were handling I would ask about the retainer from the first, I was told multiple times they would have someone look into it and give me a call.. finally didn't need them for the second case anymore (about 6 months down the rd) so asked for the remainder of that retainer and the first one they told me an email had been sent about the first one, I never received such email and I know for a fact they had the right email address because I received every other email they sent me before and after said email was sent. They returned the second case's retainer via check in the mail I then called about the first one AGAIN and was told my account was at zero!!! Would not recommend them all they want is your money!

I hands down 100% Recommend Sara Herr-Waldroup. I just recently met my daughter for the first time while she was just over 5 months old. My situation, as I’m sure all are, has been very difficult for me. Sara and her paralegal Amy Hernandez have been very kind and uplifting bringing me hope in hopeless situations. It was not guaranteed that I would Have visitation with my daughter for the first time. I live in a land far far away known as Tennessee, and had to fly to Washington in hopes of receiving visitation. The moment I spoke with Sara in person for the first time at the courthouse I knew she was going to make it happen. She is certainly ahead of the game and ready from all angles. She displays true professionalism while also being able to sympathize and truly understand ones situation. Amy has been a blessing as well. She works very hard with getting everything together in a timely manner. She is very responsive and has a great deal of knowledge for when I have questions. Made all my money disappear, after I told them I wanted the rest of my trust fund and no longer represented. At minimum it was hundreds. Of the $6,000 I got $5 back and I have nothing really to show for it. Only told one thing to have another done. Never did get the itemized bill I requested, or a return phone call after my messages. The beginning they seemed like go getters...then I realized and told them how it was going to roll out if we did not focus on why I hired them. Then sure enough....

All experiences I have had with this group involved ethically questionable behavior by them

After trying to navigate the court system by myself, and not making any headway, I hired Jennifer as my counsil. She took on my case, carefully reviewing all of the declarations and forms that had been previously submitted. She and worked diligently to ensure that the additional declarations were well crafted, and addressed the key points that needed to be made. When came time for my hearing, Jennifer was very calming, and her delivery in support of my case was precise, pertinent, and compelling. She pretty much won my case for me, and I'm fairly certain I couldn't have done it without her.

I used this firm in my divorce and custody case. Allen Yu (my attorney) and his assistant, Alexis, exceeded my expectations. From the office staff to the legal representation and advice, this firm was incredible. My case was time-sensitive. Mr. Yu saw me the same day I contacted his firm. I was able to meet with him the same day even though he was between hearings and working on multiple cases when I called. He always called me back when he said he would. He took the time to read through each email I sent and formulated a plan very quickly. I was able to settle my divorce case very early on without going to trial, thanks to Allen and his team. Based on his ability to analyze information and strategically formulate an effective plan, I have no doubt he would have been an amazing attorney in a trial setting as well. Thank goodness it did not come to that. I would highly recommend Allen Yu and this firm to friends, family, and anyone who is contemplating divorce or custody proceedings in the area.

I was referred to Ashby Law (Law firm Jennifer LaCoste is associated with) by a former friend. After receiving different counsel in a different county and going through a lot of troublesome situations I decided to give Ashby Law a shot and see if their lawyers could help me out of the legal hole my previous counsel put me in. I was introduced to Jennifer and her Paralegal Anita on Feb 7th when they began the daunting task of fixing my jumbled case. After a 1 hr talk on the phone with Jennifer and Anita i felt that they were the people I needed to run my case. After hiring them on Feb 8th and submitting all documents to them, they gave me the reassurance that with a lot of work having to fix previous counsels mess ups, they could help me achieve the successful case i was supposed to get in the beginning. I appreciated how even though it was daunting and a lot of work they were always available to answer my questions or concerns and also to clarify to me why some statutes and laws were the way they were. They were also always 100% honest about the financial aspect of it which i so greatly appreciate. What i am most grateful for is their compassion and diligence in getting things done in a timely manner. They never once made me feel unsure about the process or what our end goal was. They were, as i noticed with my last counsel never happened, professional and organized. Never made jokes about my case or try to blow off my worries. They treated my son and I like we were family to them and for that i cannot thank them enough. If you are looking for a compassionate, hard-working, driven, determined, organized, legal team PLEASE choose these ladies. My husband and I came to Ashby Law when we were in fear of my step-daughters being suddenly moved out of state by their birth mother. Jennifer LaCoste was our attorney, paired with Anita as our paralegal - and they are incredible! They understood we wanted to be fair and reasonable throughout the process, but were anxious to put protections in place and were ultimately hoping for 50/50 custody. We felt very secure having them represent us. Without a doubt, they had our best interest in mind every single step of the way.

At the hearings, Jennifer was focused, calm and strategic. We have to say the same thing for Anita, who was always prompt, detailed and both were more than willing to help us navigate the legal system. They never wasted our time, but both made us feel like we really, actually, mattered to them.

We had a force behind us and it was worth every penny because in a relatively short period of time (approx. 4 months) WE WON 50/50 custody of his little girls and we couldn't be happier. Amazing legal team, wonderful people, and an outstanding firm.

I unfortunately did not have a good experience with Ashby law. I came to them in August of 2016 asking for there help filling a parenting plan and had to try and get back any money I could in mid December of 2016. I had Jennifer Lacosta as my lawyer and Alexis Meeks as my paralegal, and nothing was done. I had to visit the office several times for updates and was always told they were going to contact the they party and never did never even filed, but they did charge me $1,100 for a half filled out parenting plan that was never even filled. I had to demand the rest of my retainer that I paid. The people were nice enough but no work was done. There was no communication between the lawyer and paralegal. I was extremely disappointed. The process being pushed back only made it harder. When I got the money they would give me back I was able to go the courthouse and fill for full custody same day. I wish they would have given me all my money back. I feel I was really screwed over and would never recommend them to anyone, and have also considered picketing out side of there office.

They were all great people that actually cared about my family and I.

This law firm is a joke, it's about dollars not the true matter at hand! I've seen it happen first hand, a wife beater and abuser gets away with whatever his attorneys want. Never to take in consideration of the true victims. Children, spouses, none of that is a concern, only the dollar dollar bill y'all!
I'd give you negative stars if I could. You should be ashamed of what you have and will continue to do. Karma has something special for individuals like you. I get it lawyers are a blah blah but children? Really? I hope you can sleep with yourself at night!

I would never recommend Ashby Law to anyone. They do not know what they are doing they only want to take your money to work on paperwork for court and not finish the required documents in time to go to court but bill for the time. They like to sound like they are saving you money but after you receive bills for thousands for not finished work or direction on how they are making things better. My Lawyer with them Jennifer Lacoste was always in trial all week. When she came to court she did not know the case and did not fight at all. The advice that I received was not correct and she did not know what she was doing. In my opinion they took my money and did not do any work correctly with charging me a lot. I am ready to fight for money back and to have their license to practice removed so they do not do what they did to me to anyone else. I would not talk to Ashby Law and look for someone else. The Lawyers do not know what they are doing. Don't use Ashby Law they will just make your case hard for you to win and make the process take a long time with lots of expense so they get as much money out of you. Consult other better Lawyers like Ben Dow or Mathew Purcell they care about clients not just getting your money.

Don't waste you time and money on this law firm, I was so close to switching law firms after nothing was getting done in my case and my attorney and paralegal were both switched, I decided to give them a second chance and I completely regretted it. They did absolutely nothing for me that I could not have done myself.

They take their time to help solve your problem. Paper work is gathered and filled out by them. Everything is done by them you just have to give information and details in order to proceed with your case. Ashby Law is a great example and great teamwork.

Our initial consultation took place several months before my fiance and I decided to retain one of their lawyers. Jessica made sure to correct any issues with our documents and apologized for any confusion or error that would occur. The one time my fiance's name was misspelled, Shayla personally apologized and reassured us it wouldn't happen again. Shayla kept us informed every step of the way, answered all of our questions, and never made me feel like I was a burden. We were provided a layout of expected expenses ahead of time, so we were never caught off guard by our fees. Athough, the entire process was stressful, not having to worry about our lawyer was wonderful. Overall, Ashby Law is a great law firm. Everyone we interacted with from the office were always courteous and professional. I would absolutely recommend them to everyone.

I came to Ashby after four years and two attorneys fighting a contested divorce with a very high conflict woman. We went four years with out a parenting plan and Glenn Slate was able to get us one and stabilize things. Ashby Law is well worth the money spent.

I have never experienced such a disorganized mess! They charged us for everything under the sun and provided no explanation when questioned. They would call us Thursday and tell us we owed 2k if they were going to attend court the next day. Seriously?? No invoices or calls regarding this until the day before??
We paid over 9k for a custody and they only attended one court appearance for a temporary order. 9k!!!!!

Worst Experience ever I called before hand to schedule an appointment with someone to fill out paper work for a parental plan than was sent to me from the father of my child. I explained to them I don't have the money to have an attorney but all I need was help with the paper work. The secretary said well we can certainly help you with that. It will be only 100 for the consultation to fill your paper work. If later down the road you have to go to court the $100 will go towards that. And any additional more for court. I said ok. So I just want paper work done only nothing else done for me. She said that's fine it will be only $100. Went there and in the end the lady that helped me wasn't a paralegal told me she couldn't help me because that's not what she did. Told me totally something different and took me to the front desk to pay for the $100. They didn't give me any legal advice. Didn't help me with anything. So I apparently just got there told me she couldn't help me and make me pay. I spend money which was the only money I had. Made me drive from Yakima to Kennewick for no reason. And waste my gas. Now I'm broke and don't know what to do with the paper work I have.what I want is my money back. I don't need them to clarify anything because I know what she told me. They are there just to take your money.
