I spoke with Chad and he was very helpful. Their office could not actually handle my difficult situation but Chad was so nice and thoughtful in our conversation that he made me feel a lot better. He referred me to 2 very good attorneys that could help. Usually when you call a law office and they determine that they cannot make any money off of you, they basically hang the phone up on you. Chad was not like that at all. These guys are what all law firms should aspire to be.

my parents urgently needed an estate plan done with a will a trust and power of attorney. Megan Fuhrer our assigned elder care lawyer helped guide us through this process with grace trust and dignity, even travelling to my parents assisted facility so I did not have to miss work for signing documents. I am truly appreciative to Megan for all she has done for my family. Thank you so much!

Our family was referred to Garvin Reiter through a Kaiser social worker -- she felt we should know about Elder Law regarding future healthcare needs. Garvin was so very helpful - patiently answered our questions and gave us very practical advice. We met with him twice to execute Advance Directives and Powers of Attorney. He also referred us to a CPA whose advice has saved us money. We highly recommend Garvin for his personable manner as well as his expertise regarding the legal needs of an aging population.

I am working with Garvin on various matters of estate planning, some of which are straightforward (a will, power of attorney, advance directive) and some a bit more complicated (developing a trust). In all respects, Garvin has shown himself to be competent, smart, caring, and efficient. His explanations of the legal points involved are easy for the layperson to follow and understand. His firm's office is centrally located and easy to find, and has large windows overlooking Willamette Park which create a welcoming atmosphere. His firm's staff have likewise been efficient and pleasant. Highest recommendation.

I cannot say enough about my attorney Brett Callahan. He is an incredibly caring, kind and ethical human being. My legal needs came about due to my Mother and Grandmother dying within one week of each other, and my upbringing in an incredibly dysfunctional family. I knew that I did not want to deal with either of my siblings directly so I retained Brett. Brett was thorough, compassionate, and also a great strategyzer. While navigating probate issues, he had to deal with family members that were irrational, borderline, and narcissistic in their behaviors. I can never thank Brett and Wiki enough for their help. They both stood in the gap for me and I did not have to have any direct contact with my family. Brett also had some very creative ideas that helped bring this to a resolution. I will be forever grateful.

My life was turned upside down when my wife was diagnosed with three concurrent terminal illnesses. However, since none of the three were immediately life-threatening, we were facing a potentially long term of around the clock health and residential care. While we are relatively financially secure for normal emergencies, few people are prepared for a monthly cost health exceeding $13,000. Medicare would run out after 100 days of skilled nursing, and it appeared that Medicaid was in our near future.

I’m certain most of us delay thoughts and preparation for elder care needs, trusts, burial plans and expenses, wills, powers of attorney, etc. I know we did. Fortunately I was told by someone who works in elder care that I needed an attorney as soon as possible. I was given an appointment within days and walked away from that first meeting realizing how much I didn’t know, and even worse, knowing how many potentially devastating errors I would have made without knowledgeable legal advice.

I am now more confident in my abilities to deal with my wife’s health care needs and in the ways in which we have positioned ourselves for the future.

I recommend the services of Nay & Friedenberg without reservation.

Please count me as one who is most grateful for the firm's clear counsel.
Not simply for serving my estate planning needs, but also in providing timely guidance to me on a matter of my mother's longterm care needs. With a one-hour meeting, Tim Nay outlined (for me) the straightforward path for navigating the State of Oregon's medicaid application process. That journey, undertaken with my siblings on behalf of our mother, is now complete. Thank you!

My dad died somewhat unexpectedly last February, and left a complicated situation for my mom to maneuver through. This firm was recommended to us by someone I spoke to (honestly, I don't remember who---I was on the phone everyday for weeks trying to find my way through the fog, and spoke to many people---I'm the son, by the way...). So I arranged an appointment, and we met with Shannon. Mom liked her instantly (so did I), and frankly, she and Kelly were a godsend for us----after suddenly losing her husband of 57 years, mom was in no condition to manage all the affairs, and I had done everything I could. Shannon and Kelly have been like visiting angels. They resolved all the details of dad's estate, and relieved mom of the stress she had been living under----at times she had been so distressed she simply sobbed for hours. She was able to let go of all this and get on with the business of grieving, and rebuilding. I can't thank Shannon and Kelly enough for the caring attention, support, and the skilled legal services they provided. We will never forget them!

Shannon Conley and her team are wonderful attorneys who can take care of ANY problem you have! They are professional, knowledgable, and extremely capable. Not only is Shannon Conley brilliant, but she is also a compassionate and kind person which is not found in most attorneys today. She helped me after my brother's death to resolve his healthcare and Social Security issues, as well as settling out his estate. I wholeheartedly give Shannon Conley and Brittany Weiler a five-star rating. If there was a 100-star rating, I would gladly give it to them. I want them to know of my great appreciation for all they have done for me under very stressful circumstances. Thank you with all my heart.

We worked with Shannon and Laura for family estate matters. Both of us consider ourselves lucky to have been able to have the two of them to consult with and guide us. Shannon and Laura made sure that we understood and answered all of our numerous questions in the process. Our experience, overall, was outstanding. We highly recommend the firm and particularly these two.

We have been using the offices of Nay & Friedenberg for several years. Tim Nay, Shannon Conley and the entire staff are professional, knowledgeable, and caring individuals who make us feel valued as clients. They listen to our concerns and work with us to ensure the best outcome for our legal needs. I work directly with Shannon Conley regarding the Special Needs Trust for our adult son with disabilities. Shannon is always available and willing to help and answer any questions related to the trust. I feel confident we are getting the best legal advice available and would highly recommend the office of Nay & Friedenberg.

My wife and I (we are in our 30's) came in to work with Brett Callahan for filling out our will and estate planning. We came in to plan ahead, to make sure our son was in the best possible situation if something were to happen to us. Not an easy possibility to face or plan for. Brett made it so much easier and smoother than we could have ever imagined. From start to finish, he was honest and sympathetic while providing a great sense of humor along the way. If this is something you have been considering and are a little hesitant about, rest assured that you are in extremely capable hands with Brett. Our son is now protected and we have peace of mind about it all thanks to Brett.

I have found this office to be very helpful in providing me with very useful information to care for my aging mother several years ago. Since then, I have used their services to update my own documents such as will, power of attorney and have found the experience to be very clear and easy. Very knowledgeable and friendly people.

Garvin Reiter is an excellent lawyer. I observed his talent for working with older adults when he assisted both my father getting on Medicaid and then working with my mother to see her papers were in order. He is a good listener and astute at finding the right solution for the individual he is assisting. I have switched now from my past lawyer to Mr. Reiter.

I have worked with Tim Nay and his professional staff for years. Tim Nay does all of the major work for our firm for trusts, estates, guardianships, wrongful death estates and elder law. I would not use anyone else in Oregon. I have been practicing 45 years and Nay and Friedenberg are the very best by any standard.

Garvin at Nay and Friedenberg was invaluable in the process of applying for Medicaid for my father who suffers from dementia. My family and I are very grateful for both his knowledge and his support during that very stressful time. I encourage anyone in the same position to seek him out.

Sam and Megan helped us deftly navigate a very convoluted and complex legal, financial and medical path that helped us care for our mother in the best possible manner. I will be forever thankful that they helped our family maneuver through Medicaid, annuities, income cap trusts, spousal benefits and the like. I recommend Sam & this firm without reservation!

I was very nervous walking into my first meeting with Brett Callahan to seek legal advice for a very stressful family situation, however, it only took a couple of minutes for me to feel very comfortable discussing my concerns. I felt confident that Brett was knowledgeable, compassionate and so very helpful. I so appreciate how quickly he responds to me as when I reach out for help. I highly recommend Brett Callahan to anyone looking for legal advice.

I highly recommend Darin Dooley and his staff at Nay & Friedenberg. In fact, I have done so verbally on many occasions already, and have shared the webpage with many of my friends. For most people who don't interact with the legal system, the word "lawyer" can strike fear and anxiety. Darin and his staff's up front, friendly, and transparent manner puts a person at ease at once. It is reassuring to have knowledgeable professionals who guide you through the "System" . I first encountered the firm of Nay & Friedenberg at an AARP Caregiver conference. The information the speaker shared was so important, that I kept the handouts and the business card for when my father, brother and I needed to call on them a few years later. I would recommend others do the same!

We used Garvin Reiter at Nay & Friedenberg last year after we'd finally convinced our elderly parents that they needed to do some estate planning. Garvin was great. He explained our options in a very straightforward way, and was particularly patient with our parents. He was also very upfront about the charges associated with setting up a trust, writing a will, etc. After our visit, he and his staff were very responsive to our followup questions. Highly recommended.

I'm eager to take this opportunity to praise the firm Nay & Friedenberg here in Portland, Oregon. They are helpful, friendly, professional and meticulously ethical. Our Attorney Darin Dooley and his Paralegal Debbie Kelly worked with us to prepare our father's estate for probate. Darin met with us and explained how to set up our bank accounts before Dad died and what we needed to do and what would be expected of us upon his death. Throughout the process, we've been kept fully informed. Ms. Kelly let us know there would be a flurry of activity at first, then it would seem like noting is happening, since probates take several months to complete. Both Mr. Dooley and Ms. Kelly have made themselves available should we have any questions. We've been praising and recommending Nay & Friedenberg since May and we will continue to do so at every opportunity. Credit should also be given to their excellent website which has a wealth of information.

There simply aren't words to express how grateful I am to Meghan Fuhrer for her excellent professional and compassionate help when our friend called us in dire need of end life legal counsel. She was up at the hospital that very day implementing a will and a trust and saving so many from what would have been a very bad situation. I have never needed legal help either personally or professionally, but finding and hiring Megan and this Law Firm was quite literally one of the best and most important decisions of my life.

Amazingly helpful staff, the attorneys the paralegal and the support staff are always available and ready to take an email or a call. They walked us through step by step a person representative process as well as setting up a living trust. It was easy and painless. I would highly recommend this friend for any of your legal needs. Sam was extremely calm patient and took the time to meet with us individually in a non-stressful environment. everything was explained in layman's terms and made it easy to understand and easy to know exactly what the process was. I would highly recommend Sam as an attorney everyone at the firm was easily accessible.

I just received a letter from a very arrogant young man named Brett Callahan from this office. He has apparently been appointed as my families new Personal Representative for my late father's estate. Not a terribly good start for this firm. It would appear that he just passed the bar exam last week and scrounging around the courthouse looking for court appointed work.

Looks like I need a lawyer to stop this hack from selling our families property to line his pockets.

Great experience with this office. I needed guidance in protecting my assets but was insecure with whom I could trust with something that critical. I highly recommend Nay and Friedenberg. Every step of the way was friendly, unassuming and very educational. We started with an in person meeting with Sam, one of their longest serving attorneys, followed by several pages of paperwork that were very simple to fill out and then a phone call with Sam who gave us food for thought, solid guidance and assurance. Great to know that my assets and more importantly, the people I love, will be taken care of. It's a relief to have this figured out and to know to whom I can go with questions as they arise.

So glad we finally started this process and we found a N+F to help us as well. We met with Sam, who with incredible pace and patience, walked us through all of the details and definitions of how a living trust works and all the things we would want to consider as we cement our final wishes.
Going into this, I thought it would be incredibly intimidating and complex but it was surprising direct - not because it is - but because of the way Sam was able to explain things in a way it was easy to get.
And I should mention that in addition to Sam, everyone there was incredibly kind and helpful as my wife and I set up our living trust.
So after years (yes, years) of putting this off, we finally have the peace of mind of a trust. And not just because of some paper but because these people helped give us some confidence in the process as well.
So lucky we were referred here!

We had our estate planning done with Nay and Friedenberg after our son was born. They really helped to guide us through the whole process. Taught us that we needed more than just a will and helped us to get our estate in order should we ever need it. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for estate planning services.
