Love the concept. Definitely provide comfort. But the PRICES. I know everyone has to get paid, but the retainer is still so high working adults. $2,500, geez. Perhaps implementing internships to help offset the cost. E.G., 12 hours a week for a month can reduce that $2,500 to $1,500. I don't know

My daughter went here for a consultation. Since then she has been waiting 'weeks' for a return call regarding retaining a lawyer to represent her in a custody hearing!
She's called backed and was told someone would call and yet here we are going into yet another week.
This is a horrible time in her life, she's separated from her son by a Grandmother who is refusing to give her son back to her, thus the court needs to intervene.
$40.00 consultation fee paid - for what?
They should give her the money back as we are now looking for another attorney.

I thought this place was low income they charge the same as other places..
went it, and right away was told to fill paperwork out payed the 40$ and was helped by someone that didn't even work at the faculty and she wasn't even a lawyer.
We basically payed $40 for someone to take notes on the case and answer a few questions..half of the questions I was asking she didn't know the answers too.. she said that if I wanted them answered I would have to make another appointment to meet with the attorney.. I needed to pay $1700 something to meet with an attorney and would have to hire them without having any reassurance if we would win ... the lady helping us then said at the end any more questions because I'm sure I don't have the answer ? Like really it would be nice if they advice people first the plan that when paying the $40 we are not meeting with an attorney that we are meeting with someone that takes notes upon the case and then quote you .. my mother's a single mother and can't afford their quote .. she also said it could be that amount it could be less .. but for that you need to pay the $1700 hire and meet with the attorney .. hated the system

I had an appointment with St Andrews Clinic on Oct 22nd. When I went there the receptionist insisted that I pay in cash which I was not told at the time of appointment setting. She made me go to a Market to get cash. When I returned I had spent 30 minutes an very young attorney . She heard my story and she game me a card with the fees and told me to call the next day and set up an appointment. I called several times and left message but no one called me as of today. 11/04/2019. The know they will not be able to set up appointment to help that's why they take cash money up front so that we don't stop payment on cr. card or check . Fast way of making money. Don't go there. In the name of non profit organization to help poor they are making money. If you add up all the people who go there and pay $40.00 for 30 mins they make so much money but they help hardly anyone.

They are great service. Very affordable. And care about ur case as much as a full salary paid lawyer.

If you are dealing with any family law case I would high suggest NOT WORKING with this clinic. The $40 consultation is a complete scam they DO NOT offer any type of valuable assistance or information. the $40 consult is literally a waste of time and money all they do is listen to what you’re case is then they call an attorney tell them the case and then tell you it’s going to cost $2400 for help ... it’s just like paying $40 to meet the middle man which connects you to the supplier.. I got offered absolutely 0 advice in fact the “attorney” that was hearing my case wasn’t even a family law attorney he was a “civil rights” lawyer. I asked him if he had sat next to and gone through a family custody case with anyone at all and he replied “no I haven’t at all” ... so why am I talking to you was my initial thought ? I was told lie after lie to be manipulated into wasting my time and money to receive a quote & and absolutely no legal advice ! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM TAKING ADVANTAGE OF LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES

HORRIABLE customer service...got a call back and he cut me off while I was talking to tell me the consultant fee and tell me I needed to come on in..I asked I could do it over the phone cause I work nights and he said no .. I then said well then I guess I can't do it.. he said audios. Then hung up.. really!!! Ya II guess I won't figure out how to get there because obviously my business isn't worth there time... Will not recommend to Anyone!! There are plenty of other business that would make it seem like my business is important...and be more kind to there potential customers.

This place got my hopes up and took my money. I was quoted $1600 for a child custody case and it took me 2 1/2 weeks to come up with the retainer. I called to schedule my retainer appointment and now I'm being told "oh we're so sorry it wasn't explained properly to you. You get the quote then if our attorney has time to take your case they put you on a wait list." I asked to speak to someone else and I was upset with reason but I was told I was being hung up on because the reception did not appreciate my tone of voice. If I had known from the beginning I wouldn't have paid $40 for a consultation from an attorney who may not have time to take my case anyway. Seems like a crapshoot that isn't worth it. I sold personal belongings and did fund raising to get the funds to pay for this attorney. I thought the goal was to help people who are already struggling not make it even harder for them. SALC Should be ashamed. I feel so lost and heart broken.

I use this clinic for over 15 years I had very great luck with them Shelley Mathes was my Maine attorney she was excellent. She helped me for several years with my ex . I can't say enough great things about her. The Clinic goes on a sliding scale and they would let you make payments so your are able to get an attorney to go to court with family matters

This is a specialized Legal Clinic, and I left both the Hillsboro and Portland locations phone messages, as that's all they offered when you called, and they told you they would call you back. Neither one of them bothered to call me back, not even to tell me that they would not be able to assist me with what I was needing them for to begin with. My advice, if you need legal help, this place probably isn't going to be a good first choice for you. Choose your legal representation carefully. Cheers!

I have just recently had the pleasure to retain an attorney from St Andrews Legal Clinic, from my very first phone call to my intake I was just treated so well. They are very patient and caring my attorney is great and I couldn't be happier!

They took pretty much all of my retainer and did NOTHING. no paper work filed, no communication. It’s been 3 months and I’m still trying to get what’s left of my retainer back. I would definitely stay away. They are taking advantage of underprivileged people and robbing us

Wasted $40 on a consultation to find out they charge just as much as everyone else. I’m escaping a domestic violence situation and have a son my abusive ex is trying to take from me and they said it would cost. $3200. I only make $1,800. This is the same prices quoted to me by attorney who are not sliding fee scale. It makes no sense. Don’t go here unless you have a lot of money. I lost $40 I really needed on this clinic.

This is a wonderful place for people who want a simple divorce. It is affordable since they promised not to charge me over $3000.00. Unfortunately my husband is making ours so complicated I was advised to get an attorney who actually had the time to take our case on. They gave me a list of great referrals that also will honor their fee. But I decided that since j am disabled and about to retire and am now in the fight for my life, that for me to cut corners on my attorney made no sense. He will end up paying this bill, if things finally go my way and he is stopped from doing any more damage to my life, since he abandoned our marriage of almost 30 years, once the reality of living with a cripple set in.

The right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing at this place. I have been here three times now in the passed two years twice for the $35 night clinic and once for a day consultation. All three appointments were a complete waste of my time and money, at the night clinics they are in too much of a rush to get you a quote and get you out the door, rather than give you some advice. During my last day visit which cost me $50 I got about twenty minutes of help before the attorney went out of the room to check something and came back to tell me that they could not help me with anything. So why did you keep the money? If you get paid to give a service and you can't or won't follow through with it, you give that money back! I will never come back to this pace again to get robbed, and I don't recommend it to anybody else. I feel very ripped off. Shame on SALC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a blessing. I could not afford an attorney so I came to St Andrew's Legal Clinic during the $35 cash evening interview. They heard my issue and quoted me a rate that I could sort of afford. The attorney took excellent care of my case and got me a great resolution. They have been patient when I have had payment issues. In a nutshell, they have totally stood by me and I have already referred others to their services.

TOTAL SCAM, don't waste your money. $35 cash for absolutely NOTHING. All these people are doing is getting your monthly income information to see if you make enough to hustle as clients, in the future.

Nothing! Despite being referred to them they were no help. Hung up on me three times. Figured it might happen since the conversation had barely started. Then when I did talk to them they were rude. First offering an appointment then once they had my information canceled it in the same call stating the other party had used them five years ago so its a conflict of interest. Even though she isn't using them and has her own attorney at her beck and call. They then refused to give out any information that might help me find some help. Ugh!
