DO NOT HIRE!! I hired attorney Anthony Lyons months into the case still had not shown my husband any discovery evidence against him. When finally questioned about why it has taken so long to see the evidence, he states that he doesn't need to see the evidence because the DA has already told him what it was. My husband told him that he feels that he lied to him because he never followed through on providing the evidence as he promised to do on each visit. Now the attorney has filed a motion to remove himself from the case. Abandoning us with our $3000 and leaving us unrepresented. In the letter he alluded to the case and his assumption of guilt and outlined my husband's criminal record. This letter has been issued to the court along with his motion. How can he abandon the case because he was called on his inability to present his client without the evidence against him? He told me on a recorded line that he does not need to look at the evidence. I asked how can you adequately represent your client without seeing the evidence. He NEVER discussed the details of the case with my husband. Mr. Lyons spent over an hour in his office with m when we met and only 5 mins or so if that time was about my husband or his case. He went on and on about how great he is as an attorney. He went so far as to pull out other cases that he was working on to tell me how great he did not them. When I attempted to bring him back in to the subject and ask if he wanted me to tell him about the case he stated, " I don't need to know about it because I do my own research" He went on and on about a business dealing that he had 5 million dollars invested into on an apartment community. He pulled out his phone and showed me all of the judges names and numbers in his phone and said that they know when he points his finger that their job is on the line because he is the one that got them on the bench. As you can see if I got all of this, not much time was spent of my husband. I truly feel that he did all of this to pump his reputation up to mislead on his abilities. Mr. Lyons visited my husband for about 5-10 minutes here and there and would always pretend to be logging into his laptop to pull up the discovery evidence but then would act as if he couldn't log into the WIFI. EVERY attorney knows that your cant get service in the jail like that. Once again, another con attempt. Then he would jump up and say well i will be back. Then when he returned it would be the same thing. Eventually, my husband started to tell me that he feels like we had been lied to because he never brought the evidence. When he said this to Anthony Lyons, Anthony jumped up and said you calling me a liar. I cant represent you. It was at this point when we realized that he had planned this all along. Drug us along and when we started asking questions, quit. I called him after this visit with my husband and he said that he did not have to look at the discovery evidence because the DA had already told him what it was. I tried to explain why we felt we had been mislead and he said i'm not going to represent your husband anymore. The only legal reason that he could use was that my husband refused to cooperate. This of course was a lie because my husband was ready to cooperate from day one and Anthony never brought anything back to him to cooperate with. That was just the reason he selected to pretend he had a reason to withdraw because he never intended on seeing it through. He created an itemized list of his charges to fit what we had paid but the entire list was falsified. How can you spend 3 hours going over discovery evidence that you just told me you never looked at. The list was added to his motion to withdraw that was drafted the same evening he told me he did not need to review the evidence. Throughout the entire call he was laughing and making light of my husband's situation, saying "He's gonna get 40 years Ha Ha Ha" I have never in my life seen an attorney act so vulgar and unethical.
