I used advice of this attorney, that he posted on Avvo. He prohibited the petitioner to represent himself in the federal court without an attorney. (To make more money for the attorney). This advice is unlawful and unconstitutional. Everyone has a legal right to represent himself in any court in US, including federal district Court and even Supreme Court.
Second, this "attorney" explained his advice with a mockery. He said, nobody should represent himself because it is difficult ("the rules are strict"). Indeed, rules in any court are strict (that's why court system was set up, to enforce rules and the law). However mandamus is probably the simplest type of lawsuit one can file. Numerous petitioners file mandamus actions successfully without an attorney.
Definitely, the only intent this attorney has is to make money. I called him today to discuss his wrongful advice. After few questions and answers, he told, he will talk to me only if I pay extra for the consultation.
