I didn't even receive the state minimum visitation for my daughter. I believe, without a doubt that because my ex made more money than I did that maybe a deal with Mark Lane (my attorney) and my ex was made.
I have 3 kids, I hired this attorney for my middle child, I have an older and younger child. I have never lost custody of any of my other children. Never convicted of a crime. I would give the advice to not use Mark unless you make more money than your ex.
I was told I would get my daughter for 1 month (state minimum) for the summer. Summer came around, my ex came to pick up my daughter at what I thought at the time was early. I went back read the court papers, I get her for 2 weeks in the summer. I called Mark Lane's office that following Monda . The lady at the front desk was rude and hateful when I told her the reason for my call her response was, "well you signed it."
I honestly dont know how to react to that. I was under the impression that we hire and pay an attorney because we need help and dont understand everything about this process. The worst thing I've done is hire Mark.

I hired Mark Lane to help me when my husband started spending all of our money buying his mistress expensive shoes, clothes, purses & a new apartment. All while our kids were doing without. Mr. lane had integrity when it comes to taking care of kids. He did npt let my ex get away with it! I couldn’t pay all of my bill, but I tried. His staff said just to do what I could and if I couldn’t they wouldn’t hold it against me. The office staff is very helpful.

Could not be happier with my attorney. He has done everything I asked with my divorce, especially around my kids and their safety. My ex is not going to get away with her compulsive lying any more. The staff was helpful and nice. You might have to wait a day or so to get a call back, but I guess that’s court for you. I knew that going in, since it’s in the policy’s i signed.

This “lawyer” could be called a thief. Told me what he could do and quite simply can’t do it....or won’t do it. I have asked for an invoice and a full and complete update 4 times in the past 6 weeks....I got nothing in return. I heard nothing from him for months and then has the stones to ask for more money. Ok so I give the benefit of the doubt and give more money then more nothing from this shyster. He is a hack with no stones. If he responds to this post then I will post the evidence that I have that he doesn’t do what he says. Mr. Lane you should be embarrassed of yourself but I know your not. Your overhead is your problem not mine. Those girls that work for you deserve better though they won’t get it from you. There area 1000 better attorneys than this one. Do NOT give this hack your money.

He ripped me off $2800. Its been 2 yrs but i still think about it. I would call and no answer back. Ask for my money back and front office said my money was spent. Never went to court.

Worst lawyer ever!

The worst lawyer! Never responded to emails never called back !

I'm posting this at 11:30 PM October 25th. Sometimes I have a hard time sleeping at night because I lay in bed and think about how this man completely ripped me off. I gave Mark Lane $8,500 yes that's correct 8 thousand 5 hundred dollars for a custody case. I showed this man numerous and numerous texts and calls of my daughter mom being completely insane sending me and my family death threats. So then when it's time for court I find out that he is great friends with her lawyer and basically just took my case for the money and never even tried to fight for me. I paid Marl Lane $8,500 and he wanted more, that's all he was worried about. ****DO NOT GO TO THIS GREEDY MAN****

I am not going into detail. All I can say is that in my opinion he isn't even worth the one star. I have two friends that hired him, paid tons of money and regret having him as their attorney. He did not do them any favors. Read all the bad reviews on him and believe them.

Professional & Competent. Mark Lane and his office have handled my custody issues in a timely manner with great legal advice and a large amount of grace in difficult situations for our family. Highly recommend.

Mark is an ass! But a HIGHLY recommended ass! Who the hell wants a polite attorney? Grow up. He’s brutally honest and quick with his answers. He cuts through your bs and your opopnets. You’d be a fool not to hire him.

Be careful they make up a lot of fictitious charges. When you try to terminate their services and they say they’ll call you the next day, you call back a week or two later and again they tell you they’ll call back. Guess who’s paying $40 for each of those phone calls? And you’re paying for some of the worst phone etiquette you’ll ever run across. If you were able to marry and have babies with a person you can put your egos aside long enough to have a civil conversation and agree on circumstances. Then just go divorce for $200 online. This needs to be a dying industry. That’s all.

Mark Lane is finishing-up my divorce case. He has been a true professional. I’ve read so many reviews here that put him down for a number of things - not returning calls, not getting what the client wanted, etc. If I may, I’d like to offer perspective on these things, based on my experiences with Mr. Lane and his office:

First, some background. I’m finalizing a divorce where I ended up losing an animal that was so very important to me. My wife chose to use my dog as a ploy to hurt me during this divorce process, and I will no longer ever see the little guy that helped me keep my sanity on many dark and horrible nights.

Having said that, Mark also negotiated a settlement for me that keeps my head well above water financially in a time where I most need it. What I’m trying to illustrate to you is this: I lost something precious to me during this divorce. It kills me emotionally. However, it’s not Mark Lane’s fault. I have a role to play in how my life turns out and I accept my portion of responsibility for my marriage and its outcome.

It’s true that it can be difficult to reach Mr. Lane. However, and this is my personal opinion, Mark is not the kind of attorney that is a hand-holder or a coddler. Make no mistake, that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t care about you or your case. But it does mean that for some folks, his no-nonsense, let’s-just-handle-this approach, can be off-putting. If you need someone to console you constantly and hold your hand, I’d suggest finding another attorney. However, and again this is my opinion, most of those attorneys that are hand-holders are also the ones that may tend to tell you what you want to hear. Why? Because divorce or any family law situation is excruciating at best. There’s simply no way to predict what you will get and there’s nothing good about the process. The best you can hope for is to survive and come out a better person on the other side.

It’s your life. You have to own the good, the bad, and the ugly. Don’t ever expect to pay someone a sum of money to simply make your problems go away. If you can understand that, you’ll never find a better attorney.

To sum up my review, I wanted to say “thank you” to Mark Lane and his staff. I wrote this review so that others who need an attorney - the best attorney you can get, in my opinion - would know Mr. Lane’s style and his abilities. And, frankly, I felt it necessary to provide a sense of perspective on all the bad reviews he has received.

All I can say is this firm is exactly why the Law Industry has such a bad reputation.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Mark Lane and his team! They are hardworking, and direct. Not much more you could ask for in an Attorney! You want someone that will fight for you, then this is the attorney for you!

I hired mark lane during a custody case and was charged over 4,900.00 in 7 days from hire! He never appeared in court for my case at all in the 7 days... He never filed an objection. Subpoenas. Etc.. He didnt even show up for a hearing and i was also never informed of it happening! After it all expired. His firm said he couldnt be there and never even told me it was occuring.. Fact
Two very respectful lawyers have said this entire situation from start to stop is un heard of and so wrong in so many ways...

ON TOP OF THAT.. What i was told by mark lane himself was my children's mother is dating fred couch. Please look this name up and mark lane said he's not a bad guy!! I was concerned bc i googled this person and there was HUNDREDS of post of this man and non where good..impersonating a police officer. Alleged assaults etc... LIST GOES ON AN ON.. Etc... You gotta read up on this and do your own research. its scary!!!

The most important thing to take from this is..
If you are emotional an upset from your case and say something he will use it against you. I made a statement that is being used against me out of context...Fact... Its happening to me and I'm living it right now.
I didnt even know this was going on until a friend told me that they heard it from another lawyer that mark lane was gonna to break client confidentially... And that lawyer has known me for years and said im a good father! Fact

I fired mark lane and 24hours later he charged me over a 1000 dollars after i fired him. Fact.. After mark lane being fired he sent me a 2 page letter and statement from him after firing him to prove it..
In this letter mark lane only descrided negative things about me and telling me he doesnt have to follow client confidentially anymore bc of my emotions n feelings from all the stress my custody case is bringing up...I was upset with the judicial system in which he told me was understandable when it comes to your kids but then he is doing this to me. PEOPLE BE AWARE! I pray no one has to go through what I have by hiring mark lane..

First off let me start by saying Mark Lane did his job and I was divorced within 3 months. He did what I paid him to do and all the while he was pleasant and helpful every time I spoke with him. However his staff is a whole other story. They were helpful when I had questions or concerns for the most part. I paid my entire retainer off about a month after I hired him which was August 2017 in Sept they drafted my checking account $400. When I called them they said they had forgotten to take me off the list for the payment plan. Ok I understand that, I told them just send me a check. Well the check took almost two weeks to get to me, and mind you I am now a single mother raising two kids, $400 is a lot of money to me. When I received the check it was a signed BLANK check. Not even my name was written on it. I’m a honest person so I called them and they said just make it for $400 and cash it, which I did. (How does that happen??) So here we are in December and AGAIN they debited my checking account another $400 on December 20th, just in time for Christmas. This time when I called I was pretty upset, and told them this was unacceptable and I needed my money back ASAP. The girl I spoke with was not very apologetic and stated the computers were down so there was nothing at that moment they could do. She was suppose to call me back the next morning, there was no call...I had to call them. I have called a few times and you could tell they were sick of hearing from me.....so here it is December 30th and I still do not have a check in hand. Oh and they stated they had taken me off the list the first time it happened, well I guess they did because I was not debited in October or November but I guess someone needed some Christmas money because it happened in December....just a thought! So the 2 stars are because his staff kinda sucks. Thank you girls for making my Christmas so special!

Mark handled my custody case like a true professional. My ex wanted to cut my time with my daughter because I had sought a lower child support payment. Mark went in and got me full custody! My ex apparently had a lot of skeletons I didn't know about. Mark conducted himself professionally and his office did the same.

Doesn't even deserve a star. I met Mark once for about 15 minutes. Met with a member of his staff, once. My retainer was used up mostly due to my attempts to communicate with the staff. Nothing was ever done with my case and my Ex-husband's attorney ended up completing everything for us and didn't charge me a dime and didn't charge my ex anything extra! After their lack of communication, I had moved during that time and they continued to charge me for returned mail!

I read some of these reviews and it sounds like most of them got mad at something and based their entire experience off one thing. My ex abused me and mooched off of me until Mark stepped in and saved me. Was it a painless experience? NO!!! But to have people like this in my corner are more than I could've ever asked for. If you're looking to spend 7,500 dollars and have nothing done go to Mark Lane. He did a horrible job and acted as if he was to good to reply to my messages he's all about the money and doesn't care one bit about your case.

I was told my case was easy and that it would be resolved in 3 months for around $3000, it took over a year and nearly triple that cost to get a resolution, which I finally had to demand happen in mediation or I would still be waiting for another rescheduled court date and be paying him for doing nothing. Never failed to take my money on time every month, but never returned phone calls or emails (also, never dealt directly with him- it was always office staff and paralegals)....and when I requested my bill it took them 4 months and 8 phone calls to get it to me, conveniently exactly when my final payment was due.

Mark and his office ultimately helped me get what I wanted for my son which is more stability for him. Mark is a personable guy and has good insight. His staff is all very kind. Mark is a bulldog and will fight for his clients. Having said that I need to let everyone know I have came back and edited my rating for his office and decreased it. My ex and I agreed in mediation for our new order. Marks office continually keeps writing a incorrect order and multiple revisions have had to be made to it. I am paying high dollar for their services. I expect high dollar service and my attorney and his office to get things done correctly the first time in return. That has not been the case.

Mark Lane is a Christian man that provided understanding and relief during a difficult time in my family's life. I've used him several times and continue to use him today. I refer people to him when given the chance. Thank you Mark for being so great at what you do!!!

Years ago, I hired Mark Lane to defend me in criminal matter. Being young and naive about the system, I lucked out in being referred to this attorney. The cases were dismissed by the judge, thrown out for lack of evidence in Tarrant County. At that time, he was just starting out in his career so I can only imagine how much better of a lawyer he is today. I am sorry for all those who have negative comments. All I can say is you have to be absolutely, brutally honest about every detail with the attorney you hire. You hire him to be on your side. Do not leave out any details that can hurt you in court. Grateful my life was not ruined at such a young age, thanks to Mark Lane. No felonies on my record.

I used Mark Lane in 2009 he was an awesome make it happen lawyer.I was fighting for my 3 year old nephew that was not in the best place at the time.My nephew is 11 years old now straight A student in gifted and talented classes. I owe that to Mark he did everything he could to get us custody. THANK YOU MARK! Every lawyer out there is expensive, and charges fees here and there.Call around your looking at $5000 plus for any lawyer to help you. my advice to you is to call around and get pricing on different lawyers, and see what they're going to do for you. I used Mark Lane almost 8 years ago for my custody battle. I had to write this because there are so many bad comments. He was the best blessing that we could have hoped for. In the consultation he laid every expectation that we had out and he told us if he would be able to meet them. He said that it would take time and money (as this is how the court system and custody battles go) but that he would be able to help. We fought this battle for a little under a year and it was almost 20k but HE DID EVERYTHING HE SAID THAT HE WOULD. He was wonderful throughout the whole process. He stood up for me and cared about my situation. Once my x terminated his rights he got me to another attorney for the best interest of the child and finished very quickly. I have referred many to him over the years and the first thing that I say is that he is expensive but he is the best. You can not get the best of anything at the cheapest price. You get what you pay for. It was the best decision I ever made to hire him. Thank you again Mark!!!

Mark helped me in my time of need. He gave me his personal cell phone number and was available anytime day or night. I had to call him in the middle of the night when my ex husband threatened to not bring my kids home. He was so amazing in court. I'm so blessed I found him.

I agree with most of the other posts here. My son paid Lane a $7500 retainer and then came to an agreement with his ex the next week. Lane did NOTHING, kept the money and pulled all the tricks that others here are complaining of - phantom phone calls, emails, etc. My son did not even get a billing statement until after several repeated requests, and get this - they billed him every time he called to ask for someone to call him back!

Lane is exactly the type of lawyer that gives the profession its poor public image.

Terrible. Arrogant guy who is after your money. Not once did he or any representative ask me ever about my case. Told me not to show up for court and then asked me why I didn't show up. They are very unorganized. If you want to waste money and not be treated fairly then choose MARK LANE!

If there was a negative star I would choose that. If you want to hire a arrogant man who has no regard for your case Mark Lane is your man! I hired him to defend my Son in a case. He pressured me to pay him a down payment the day of the consult. Should have been my first clue he operates like a 3rd rate con man. once he got my Sons money he refused to answer or return calls. His staff was disorganized and misinformed. The simplest of procedures were grossly mishandled. I cant begin to describe the helpless feeling of knowing the person who was supposed to be helping you and advocate for you in a life changing legal circumstance absolutely has no concern for your situation! The final straw was his assistant Hailey told my Son his presence wasn't needed in court that Mr. Lane would be there. Days after court my Son tried to contact Mr. Lane to find out outcome. Mr. Lane of course never would respond. When we called the court we found out Mr. Lane DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP FOR COURT! Resulting in a Warrant for My Son! When we checked with the court he had never even filed with the court as his attorney. He then later sent a fake copy of a letter to me saying he did file. What a joke. We are educated, honest people and his misconduct and negligence was absolutely shocking! I think he pays people to sprinkle so good reviews on sites. All the reviews of how hateful and negligent he is are the TRUE reviews. I can not figure out how his license hasn't been revoked yet. People you need to contact the bar and report this man that thinks he is above reproach in taking advantage of people who put their trust in him.

I agree with everyone here. If you want to throw 3 thousand dollars out the window, go to an adult entertainment bar and at least "make it rain" and waste it on something else. This guy is an absolute joke. I hired him, he never showed up to court, he only sent someone else. I finally got the chance to meet him a year into my case and when I called him out for lying to me and for putting SOMEONE ELSES name on my final decree, he responded by asking me "what does it matter". I responded with "because you are my attorney that I am supposed to trust and you lied to me". He walked out of the room, then walked back into the room and was by far the most mean and hateful person. He screamed at me that he couldn't believe that I would tell him his staff didn't know what they were doing. He name called me, and then he cut me down. My mother and my three kids were out in the waiting room of Mark's office. He was yelling so loud my kids were scared for me, and they could here everything. He threw my stack of papers at me in the room we were in, and he then told me I was fired!!!! I repeatedly had been asking for a copy of my file and of my accounting of money, and not to my surprise, I was still leaving his office with nothing, other than a threat that I owed him more money and I had 24 hours to get it to him or he was gonna take legal action on me. I left and hyperventilated for about 15 mins in his parking lot. I had never experienced something like that in my life. So I left there, and I went to the courthouse to check out public records. Well, thank god I did. I then found out that a year ago when we got my temporary orders, they had 15 days to type my orders into the system, even this had never been done! So 3 thousand dollars and a year later, all I have is a set of temporary orders, that currently I am having MY NEW ATTORNEY, enter into the system. Thats right folks. Thats all I got! They even told me at the court house, due to the fact nothing has been done with my case in so long, that it was on the docket to be dismissed for no activity next month. Thank God Mark fired me, had he not have done it, I wouldn't have known anything different. Such wasted money, I cannot believe how unprofessional this guy and his staff are. The only person I have anything good to say about is one of his associates, Pam. She's the only one who ever touched my case or responded to emails. Mark Lane's slogan is "Hire Me Before Your Spouse Does"......I only WISH my ex had hired him before I did. Had my ex of hired him, I would be in a great spot right now. Lol. I am happy to say I have hired a new attorney for half of the price as Mark, and already she has gotten more accomplished in the 3 days she's been hired than Mark Lane could do in a year. Once again people, I haven't "lost" anything or my case at this point, and I have no reason to lie to anyone here. Please DO NOT HIRE MARK LANE!!!! You will be seriously disappointed, you will be out a whole bunch of money, and as if it wasn't hard enough divorcing the man I had been with for 14 years, but you will have ten times the amount of stress and you will be left to feel empty and will remain to have nothing but unanswered questions. This law practice should be shut down. If you don't believe me, check out other lawyer reviews on other websites. Google him! I didn't do this till after I hired him, and I wish I would have done this first. He even has bad notes on the Better Buisness Bureaus website!!! I am just trying to help out anyone else this man may come into contact with.

If you want to waste your time and money and have absolutely nothing done on your case hire Mark Lane

This guy is a joke. He will waste your time making you believe that he is actually doing something with your case but isnt actually doing anything except collecting a paycheck. He doesnt even show up to court he has someone else show up and they might even be late. I do not recommend him to anyone.

WORST DECISSION TO HIRE THEM. I HIRED THEM ONLINE NOT ONLY LOST CASE BUT SHOWED UP LATE FOR APPEAL AND LOST THAT TOO. THIS LAW FIRM IS A JOKE A THEIF TO HAVE TAKEN OVER 2,000 DOLLARS FROM ME WITH NO POSITIVE RESULTS. I WOULD OF BEEN BETTER OFF WITH SOME BUM OF THE STREET REPRESENTING ME.
