JD Slaughter was my court appointed attorney on 3 different cases. He fought for me on every case. The first case he told me "go to treatment". I didn't do it. The second case he told me go to treatment. I didnt do it. At this point I figured, like most people, he would have given up on me. He didnt. Then I got arrested for a third time. Even though he didnt think there was anything he was going to be able to do for me. He still fought for me. I should have went to prison. I had paid another firm over $5000 to represent me and throughout the course of a year I found myself getting handed off to different attorneys in that firm. Each time I had to update my new legal representative on my case. This usually happened just minutes before my name was called in a crowded hallway with zero privacy. After making the final payment that firm suddenly went from "we'll take this all the way to trial" to "let's make a deal". I demanded trial and went to court on my next date just to be stood up. LUCKILY, when the proceeding judge asked whose week it was to take court appointed cases Mr. Slaughter stood up and volunteered to take my case. I was being charged with a 3rd degree felony and I was looking at some serious consequences for something I didn't do.
