Basically Gino Mesa is the face of the firm, you speak to him but your lawyer will be one of his assistants. He seems like he knows what he is doing, making us feel that we’re in good hands. Then he sends his assistant Robert Salazar to court whom we had never met. Our understanding was that we were hiring Mesa NOT Salazar. Once confronted about this misunderstanding he stated it was in the small print of the contract signed. Never once mentioned. We basically hired the firm NOT him. (I understand that it was our wrong doing for not fully reading EVERY detail, but as new clients who have never dealt with such issue; I would of expected more effort from his part to further educate us). Salazar was told in court that he was unprepared by the govt official, which Salazar denied once Mesa was informed about it. Basically sums up his character. Salazar appeared to be very nervous during court and NOT confident what so ever. The couple of times that I spoke to him; he was incredibly rude, and continued to lie to my face. He stated that he will go visit his client before the court date which he didn’t do twice. He only went to go see him a day or so after the firm was hired. My brother (client) informed me that all he had to say was ”Be patient man, be patient!” Once I asked why he didn’t go previously to the first court he stated there was nothing to talk about with him that he had prepared him the very first time that he spoke with him, I responded with “You told him to be patient” and he said “that’s all he needed to know”. I asked if he would go see him before his second court date, and he responded “that is my job” and he still didn’t go!! Also, they never called to inform us of court dates/ times/ locations. We had to call and get that information ourselves. BUT of course when it came to receiving payments they were on top of that. We went over to the firm to let them know that we had found a new lawyer; of course we spoke to Mesa because Salazar was NEVER around. Meza stated that we were a waste of his breath and his time.
I have never dealt with such rudeness and unprofessionalism all around. The firm is a home, the reception area is the dining area and people were honestly cooking in the kitchen (at plain site) while I waited in the waiting area (living room). Attorney Meza along with Salazar were a complete disappointment.
