If you are taking care of an elderly parent and it gets to the point where you can't provide the needed care any longer this is the attorney office that will help you through the process of getting Medicare and Medicaid to help qualify for long term care. DO NOT TRY TO APPLY ON YOUR OWN, I have other family members who had a similar situation that were attorneys themselves, not in elder care law, try to navigate the Medicaid application and got denied 3X before getting help. A pleasure to deal with such a professional lawyer and his complete staff

Mortellaro Law did exactly what they said they would do to get my father on Medicaid, and to help protect his assets. This was complicated, and if I (as my father's POA) had tried to do it myself, probably wouldn't have been successful. Their single fee structure allowed me to send emails/calls at any time which for someone as detail-oriented as me is important. In the end, we got approved on the exact day they said they would. Much appreciated, and huge stress relief for me!

A couple of years back my mom had a bad fall in her home that resulted in a head injury. Her memory had already, at the time of the accident, been failing somewhat, but with my nephew living with her, she was still able to function quite well. After the fall, the subsequent hospitalization, and the rehab stay, however, it became sadly apparent that she would not be able to live alone and I was forced to find a place for her to stay.

The task of finding suitable housing for an elderly person with memory loss is, in itself, a challenge. But, though difficult, it is not impossible. Unfortunately, a facility with a compassionate and caring staff in a homely atmosphere comes at a price. And my resources, much like my mothers, were not unlimited. So, I needed help.

My father, who has been gone for some time now, was retired military. I knew that there were VA benefits for surviving spouses of vets who had served during wartime, (my dad was a veteran of WWII), but I did not know how to obtain those benefits for my mother. I tried to talk with the VA, but they only confused me. I just didn’t understand their procedures. My feelings of overwhelm and frustration were skyrocketing and and I was unsure of how to proceed. My mom needed these benefits, my father had earned them, and I was failing to procure them for her. What was already a difficult time in my life, was only getting worse.

I knew I needed help, so I decided to seek the advice of an attorney. And by pure good fortune, I called Michelangelo Mortellaro. And for me and my family, this was the dawn at the end of a very dark night. Within days of my call I had an appointment at his office. He listened to my entire story, took notes, and asked questions. Then he told me exactly how we needed to proceed to obtain my mom’s benefits. By the end of our meeting, we had a plan. And not a vague, do this and call me plan, but a complete and detailed strategy for complying with all the VA’s regulations.

Mr. Mortellaro understood how the VA worked, he understood their procedures, their requirements, and he knew the answer to their questions. The process for obtaining benefits moved along exactly as he said it would. I completed the application for benefits to the VA and within weeks the direct deposits began coming to my moms checking account.

My father made some huge sacrifices during the second World War. He would be very happy that my mom was now receiving benefits for his sacrifices. He would be proud of me for seeing to it that this all happened during her time of need. And, he would be very grateful to Mr. Mortellaro for looking after his family at a time when he could not. I just had a very informative, free consult with attorney Michelangelo Mortellaro. He was incredibly knowledgeable and willing to answer all of my questions honestly about VA benefits and Medicaid. He was able to give realist estimates on cost of his services. I would definitely recommend that you talk to him about you or your parents needs.

I contacted Mortellaro Law for help with my mother applying for Medicaid. Michelangelo was kind enough to schedule my 30 consultation around my work schedule at a time both my wife and I could be on the phone. After listening to our particular situation he gave us the advice we needed. He gave clear easy to understand answers that spelled out exactly where we were and what we should do. Then he basically told us IF we got to a point that we needed his services he would be glad to provide them, but at this point we did not need his help and that it wouldn’t be fair to take our money. That right there told me I was talking to someone I could trust. If and when we get to the point that we need legal service I won’t consider anyone else.
