I chose Johnny Byrd because he didn't charge me a consultation fee and seemed genuine in our first phone conversation. One star is far too much. I called Mr. Barnhill and spoke to him on the phone regarding a custody issue. He cut me off and told me for $100 he would speak to me about it, claiming that it could be the case he is already representing an opposing party. I offered to clarify names if in fact we were dealing with that issue, right here, on the phone now, but, he refused, needing that $100 fee to decipher that. I said before I give you $100, I would like to make sure of your experience, ect as I’m dealing with a parent who works offshore...He missed the point, said he could be a knock down drag out for the right price...I explained I don’t have a lot of $ to spend on this issue and before I give you $100 I have a few questions. He said we have people that borrow money from their family members, ect...conversation completey turned to where I would get the money from for the case, assuming he would be retained, just like that. What a shock ... I said there are no family members. I don’t operate that way. We made an appointment and Mr. Barnhill called me back to tell me he couldn’t make the appointment now or ever. Funny, Mr. Barnhill didn’t realize how badly he embarrassed himself. I commenced to giving him “the business” if you know what I mean Aggravating I had to put one star in order to write this review. I hope everyone considering retaining this attorney understands the moral compass and motivation of the attorney they’re hiring. Fair warning. Good luck! And, the lack of orientation regarding day, date and time if “no coffee”...actually all very amusing, knowing I would have a free moment to make sure this review made it on here. If you hire him?! Make sure you bring plenty of money and coffee

I contacted This legal facility approximately 2 weeks ago and left 4 different messages with the same receptionist only to get no phone call back or even an answer I had to contact someone else to help me Resolve my case. Can't say worst service ever because no 1 ever tried 2 call me back never will I ever recommend them

Johnnie as an attorney is extremely smart and always focused on his client's well being and long-term life outcomes they are facing in the legal system, money was NEVER his focus. I am not sure why Ms. Queen is making the false statement in her review below or what her motive is, but I can assure the public this in NOT the service or relationship you will encounter when working with Johnnie and David.

My Legal Experience with Johnnie Byrd and Byrd & Barnhill, P.L.

I am hard to please and very seldom write any reviews, much less positive ones, but with Johnnie I felt I had to write a review. I couldn't be happier with how he handled and won my cases, at the circuit courts in Hillsborough and Polk counties and 2nd Florida District Court of Appeal.

I came discovered Johnnie after an on-line search after letting go of my prior attorney, due to lack of service, and for lack of experience. Johnnie demonstrated a deep knowledge of case law, superb courtroom skills, and was very responsive. Throughout the process, I felt I had the best lawyer on my side and didn't have to worry about the outcome.

He is very frank, but caring in discussing options and his coolness and focus in the courtroom are quite impressive. He is also genuine and compassionate individual with strong ethics. I feel very fortunate to have found him, he was a blessing to me and my family.

It is my opinion that Johnnie Byrd is first about integrity & his longer term reputation as a fellow man & local citizen of the community. That he may profit from any abilities as an exceptional attorney seems to me almost secondary in him. Johnnie would become my advocate, counselor, legal protector & a part of my support system. I would find myself in front of Johnnie seeking assistance and on the advice of respected friends….and as I began with him was clearly somewhat ‘rattled’, embarrassed & ‘blown away’ by the turn of events in my life & having been served with a divorce I did not wish for but which was clearly intent on harming me as much as would be (legally & financially) possible…it became clear early on that this man was more about seeing his fellow man ‘stabilize’… and becoming first aware of every possibility… before either of us would move forward. Indeed as I recall it would be my 3rd contact with Johnnie before he would accept any monies from me…and I then found his fees, retainer & policies to be completely fair. When all was ‘said & done’ there would remain some unused money associated with me in escrow with Johnnie. He immediately addressed this and refunded monies due. Furthermore, as things would progress it would become clear that he would not be the type of attorney to bill me for every single question or communication. And to that point I found Johnnie to be exceptional in his communications & follow-thru with me. In Johnnie I found an attorney whose length of experience speaks for itself, but I also personally found an individual adept at using analogies, metaphors, wit & humor to make his points and guidance to me. My particular situation would drag on for a fairly long time. Stopping & starting at least once as I would attempt to find a way to ‘salvage’ my marriage – Never would Johnnie undercut that effort or push me to move along for his sake. And when things finally reached a somewhat sudden conclusion, Johnnie had ample opportunity to encourage me to continue on simply for spite toward the other party, or for financial gain, and to do so would clearly have been to his (financial) advantage – He did not do so. He wanted me to make the best decision for me and for my peace of mind. And it is for these reasons that I would trust Johnnie Byrd to represent me in any legal capacity that he may present himself. And I would trust him to represent any friend, family or loved one. Any individual wishing to hear it directly from me is welcome to contact me in any venue.
