I finally broke down after years of back and forth with big banking to save our home. Upon recommendation of my dad who's lawyer used to run the firm, I went to Ms. Hamey. She was reassuring yet seemed somewhat ambivalent. I thought this must just be her personality. I was just so worn out from filling out and faxing paperwork to these banks literally hundreds of times and hundreds of calls. All I ever got was the runaround. I understood she may not be a miracle worker but wanted someone in the know. Instead what I got was nothing but runaround. From day one, we heard nothing until we contacted her and were handed yet another stack of papers just like the ones we'd done repeatedly for the bank. More waiting. I'd check the county website for changes periodically. When I'd find something, I'd call or email her. IF she returned my call it would be several days and then she'd tell me she'd heard nothing, put me on hold to look at the same website and come back to tell me just to wait more. A mediation hearing she'd notified us we didn't need to go to as it was done over the phone and she'd turned down their offer. This went on and on for almost 2 years!! One day I found an auction sign nailed to our tree. Called her. NOT A CLUE!! Finally, I relented my grip on this house and asked her about a short sale. She told us it was too late !!!! I called the ABA to speak to an attorney for 30 min at no charge . A gentleman called me back within a half hour. He pulled up our case online and said, and I do quote; "how much did you pay her? Jesus!" It was obvious by looking that the only thing she'd done was file an answer to the suit. My dad felt awful since he knows I trust him. I normally do a lot of research before I jump into things. The moment I don't, this happens. Please do yours and move on to someone who takes your case seriously.
