When I first spoke with Mr. Tolchinsky, he seemed personable and very helpful. That was what drew me in the first place. The blog on the website was both informative and friendly. Mr. Tolchinsky told me to call him as soon as I was moving or my landlord made a move against me.
However, when I really needed Mr. Tolchinsky, he did not respond at all. I was living in a house that was infested with mold and the landlord would not remediate.
I got inspection reports from the city building inspector, who cited my landlord with 6 violations; from a mold remediation company, who tested the air and swabbed finding 187 different fungi present, and 5 types of mold - black mold being 40% in two reports; and finally, a failed inspection from HUD, who cited him for 16 violations listing a black-like substance found in most of those violation descriptions.
I called and left several messages, went on the website and did the contact submission, and even did the chat to get help from Mr. Tolchinsky, who seemed so friendly and eager to help me when I first contacted him.
All this was met with silence. No return call, and no response at all. I was not even given the respect of a response to say "This is not my type of case," if that was the case; but in the previous conversation, he indicated that he would take care of things when I was ready to move.
I was forced to flee from that house because we were getting sick, and I had to take my son (and myself) into the emergency room for breathing problems. We had to stay in a hotel, and are still looking for a new residence. I'm still looking for representation to sue this landlord for intentional negligence.
My original review on their website site stated that I would recommend Mr. Tochinsky, but that was before I got the runaround when I really needed his representation. I can't say the same now.
