My wife had a reverse mortgage on our home and after she passed away three years ago I thought I would loose our home too. I went through probate and got the house to be in my name but since my name wasn’t on the mortgage I almost altogether gave up after several failed attempts in talking with the mortgage company who wouldn’t cooperate or even speak to me. Once the mortgage found out my wife had passed away they began sending me foreclosure letters and eventually after some weeks I was served with the foreclosure papers. I was ready to pack my things and leave our family home until I decided to look at a letter I had received from Mr. Stiberman which stated that I may have options while I was in foreclosure. Something inside of me told me to give it a try and speak to him to see what they could do to help me. I called and his office was friendly and immediately gave me an appointment for the same day. I rushed out my home and met Robert who from our initial meeting was very kind and also very thorough in explaining my options to keep or stay in my house as long as possible. The truth is that I thought the once I was given those foreclosure papers it meant that it was time to leave but after speaking to Robert he discussed the possibility of delaying the foreclosure to give me time to either sell the house or find a place to go or refinance to put a mortgage in my name. I hired his office and from that day on my experience has been phenomenal.

It has been almost two and a half years since I have been working with Robert’s office and all I can say is that they are the most profesional, hard working and kind people I’ve had to deal with through this difficult time. I have been living all this time in my house and now since the market is doing much better I put my house in the market and I have a closing coming up in the next few weeks where I am actually going to make some money from the sale. If you would’ve told me I would be where I am today three years ago I would’ve have believed it. I am so thankful for the outstanding work Robert has done for me and the effects it has had on me financially and for my family. I came to this office over 6 months ago with the hope of finding an attorney who could actually help me with the problem i had with my mortgage. The bank had denied me several times for a modification and my house was going to be foreclosed by the bank. I came a few days prior to the sale date hoping to keep my home. I met with Robert who gave me the hope i was looking for and told me Bankruptcy would stop by foreclosure and give me a chance to try and get a loan modification. I felt so comfortable in the way he fully explained the process and what he and his office could do to help me save my home that I didn’t hesitate to get started with him. I brought everything within a couple of days and his office staff went through all the documents and within days i was in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. I live in West Kendall and even though it was a long trip to his office I didn’t mind it because I knew i was finally with an office that was working for me and my goals.

After we got all the forms and documents done, Robert filed the paperwork he had prepared, and I was told to wait until for my Bankruptcy case number while sitting at his office. I could tell from the process so far that Robert and his staff knew exactly what they were doing. And I was right to think that because when i went to Court (as he told me i had to) everything that i experienced was exactly as he had explained to me. I felt very prepared and represented in what used to be a traumatizing Court experience for me in the past. Robert was calm and very thorough and walked me through all the other steps i needed to take for my bankruptcy and modification. After we were done in Court, he congratulated me and thanks to his help everything felt like a breeze.

I am in the middle of the modification process and im just happy overall of my experience with this firm. I would not recommend this office at all. I spoke with this attorney initially over the phone . I went to the office, he never came out to speak with me, only his secretary to collect my money and have me sign paperwork. If you have money to give away, then this is the law firm for you. I came to this office after a friend of mine referred me to Robert. I was drowning in debt and being recently retired I really saw no way out of the hole I was in. I went to his office and Robert was very understanding of my situation, he discussed several options that I had and recommended that I file for Bankruptcy. I thought it would mean I would loose everything I had but after speaking to Mr. Stiberman I understood that that’s not the way a Chapter 13 bankruptcy works. I was referred by a friend who had used their services before. I met with Robert at his office and had a list of questions for him. I wanted to know about Chapter 11 and 7. Robert greeted me asked me a few questions to evaluate my case, went through all my questions and gave me his recommendation. I had met with other attorneys but none of them had the patience to sit down with me and explain the bankruptcy process. We also discussed alternatives to Bankruptcy and whether they made any sense for me or not. In my mind I wanted to file a Chapter 11 which I later learned that my case was either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13. I ended up retaining Robert’s firm for a Chapter 13 and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. They were professional from the moment they picked up my first phone call to schedule the appointment. I arrived a little early to my appointment and to my surprise I met with the attorney without having to wait. I have to say that considering filing for bankruptcy was not easy for me and I am glad that I met Robert who not only advised me but also treated me like a human being who was not doing anything wrong. Robert even explained that he never thought he would be a Bankruptcy attorney and that through time he saw that people fall into financial distress due to circumstances beyond their control. I am sure my case or my reasons for filing are not unique. I was looking for relief. I needed a solution I had to figure out a way to save my home. After being in the hospital several times and not being able to make my mortgage payments i was at the point of loosing my house. I honestly didnt think there were options to allow me to catch up with my mortgage and save my house. But Robert carefully explained what a Chapter 13 would do for me. He explained that without needing my mortgage company's approval, i could get a shot of repaying what i owed over 60 months!! That was exactly what i was looking for but was never given the option through my mortgage directly.

Robert’s staff was always helpful in following up on all my documentation. Not once when I called did I ever get an answering service or busy signals. Someone always answered the phone. Prior to meeting with the bankruptcy trustee the office reminded me what I needed to take and to make sure not to take my cell phone to court. I actually saw people having to go back to their cars to leave their cell phones. Little things like that help in making a stressful situation more pleasant. Robert was waiting for me when I got there (I saw some other folks looking for their attorney). I have to admit I was very nervous but he (Robert) was calm. He said not to worry, he verified that I brought my social security card and ID, and explained to me that the Trustee was going to ask me some questions and that meeting shouldn’t take longer than 3 minutes. His calmness and energy put my fears at ease. When my name was called it was exactly as Robert said, I answered the Trustee’s questions (who was very nice) and then Robert congratulated me and told me everything went very well. Here’s the thing, he didn’t have to take the extra step of being nice. I have to admit, I walked in fearful and nervous and walked out feeling great. (Not that I would want to ever file Bankruptcy again).

When I got home I got a call from Robert’s office, I think it was Anna or Ana who reminded me to take the second credit counseling course and to call the office when I had taken it to make sure they sent it to the Court. Truly a professional experience and they even helped me set up my account to make my paymentns online. This office surpassed my expectations and I'm glad I came to them for help!

My mom taught me that if I don't have anything good to say then dont say anything at all. Also the one star speaks volumes. Just keep in mind that 1 star is the lowest rating here possible. Would give them no star if that was an option.
