I was with my husband when he stated because his case looked like it was going to be complicated so he was charging a certain fee if not it'll be less. We gave 1/2. When my husband went with the lawyer they found out USCIS made a mistake and my husband never needed a lawyer. The lawyer that was with him said this was the easiest case ever. Once my husband was sworn in, we got home and there was an invoice in our email for the balance. Not cool since he said the fee was a certain price "IF" it was complicated. Is he a good lawyer yes a man of his word no.
