Jackie was a lawyer for a friend of mine for years. I know for a fact how much my friend valued her. I am now executrix for this friend's estate and Jackie has been wonderful in helping me probate the estate. I send an e-mail...she e-mails back...I phone and most of the time she picks up the phone right away or she calls me back as quick as she can. I have even had calls from her on Saturdays. I have no hesitations in recommending Jackie if you need a good lawyer.

I have used Jackie's services over the past seven years and have nothing but positive things to say about her competence, knowledge, and personable manner. Jackie is an impressive professional woman who cares about her clients and is easily accessible. She always responds to my emails and phone calls the same day, and works long hours and many Saturdays on her cases. I have always trusted her advice and have never regretted doing so. I will continue to retain Jackie as my lawyer and highly recommend her”

I met Jackie Horton almost 4 years ago when I went to see her regarding an estate matter. It was a complex and contentious matter with numerous delays. Jackie provided excellent legal advice, understanding, and support. She presented my case before the court on at least 3 occasions with professionalism and integrity. She has a good rapport with the court, is effective with interviewing and her legal briefs were well written. It has been resolved now and I thank Jackie for the services she provided and fair billing.

We regrettably had Jackie Horton as our lawyer in dealing with the purchase of our first home.

She never responded to us in a timely manner even with time sensitive documents. We had to constantly contact her which was a mission in itself as we would have to leave many messages with her assistant. She almost never followed up on emails & rarely called us back, so we often had to go to her directly to get things done (mind you we lived on a gulf island & her office is in Victoria during this, so ended up being costly to get things sorted out each time from ferry & gas costs)

We felt uncomfortable when meeting with her as she could not explain all the charges/payments correctly to us & we felt pressured to pay what she had calculated even though we knew her math was incorrect but everything was time sensitive & she said if we overpaid we would be given the money back via cheque. The money we paid (for her to do her job) & for her help was an absolute joke - as WE had to seek out all viable information & she could not retrieve any important information that was documented & needed for our case, WE practically did her job for her.

The last straw was when Jackie tried to make us pay her a fee of nearly $800 which she could not explain what it was for or what it was even called or why all of a sudden this new fee had transpired & needed to be paid to her...this made us feel weirded out by how unproffessional things had gotten. We had to get our real estate agent involved with this & do some research to understand why she was demanding this 'unknown' fee that she could not explain...this was the only time she made an effort to actually contact us was to pay this $800. After over a week of us not actually paying her this additional $800 she finally gave up & said that the $800 fee had been a mistake.

We DID overpay her (which we knew) & decided instead of her mailing us the cheque we would go to her office to pick it up to avoid further ordeals of any sort.

In the end the friend that recommended her to us was so embaressed & was very, VERY apologetic - definately would not reccomend Jackie to anyone!

I have had the opportunity to use Jacqueline Horton’s legal services both personally & professionally as a realtor referring buyers & sellers for 10 years. Personally, Jacqueline has always spent the extra time to explain the details of our business. Both my wife & I have always felt confident in the advice Jacqueline has given us. Neither of us has ever felt rushed & have always left our meetings comfortable all our questions have been answered. Professionally, I have referred many dozens of my real estate buyers & sellers to Jacqueline. I can say that every one of these clients has been happy with her service &most have indicated they left their meetings feeling better informed & feeling more comfortable & knowledgeable than with other lawyers they have dealt with. I know that many of them have continued to use Jacqueline for personal legal services. I feel very comfortable recommending Jacqueline as a lawyer. I know she will always be our “go-to” person for all legal issues.

I have used jackie Horton and her team since I moved Victoria, BC in 2010. Her extensive knowledge and expertise is commendable . She has helped me with many matters including preparing a comprehesive will to settling serious disputes with a contractors that failed to meet their contractual obligations. Jackie is organized and pragmatic and can systematically walk you through the facts to solve problems before they escalate to the courts and when discussions fail she is successful both in mediation and litigation. I highly recommend Jackie and her team at Genesis Law Group.

I came to Mrs. Jacqueline Horton with my ribs broken, eyes bloody, and fresh out of an abusive relationship. She said she could have my case wrapped up quickly as I had all my tax forums, bank statements and all my evidence in order. She never told me her hourly rate, and never had me sign any contract. She was next to impossible to get a hold of and rarely heard from. she dragged the case on for two years. After trying to get a hold of her for two months with no response, I finally decided to fire her and go to another lawyer. When I gave her secretary that message, Mrs. Horton called me RIGHT BACK like I was the most important person in the world at that moment. Needless to say she was fired, I hired a new lawyer who got a settlement 2 months after hiring her. The new lawyer charged me 250$, Mrs. Horton charged me 2200$ AND DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
