I met Stacie through her pro bono work to educate how we should ride in the city (rights, responsibilities, and common senses). While riding my bike, I got hit by a negligent driver and incurred several hundred thousand dollars of medical bills. I contacted Stacie shortly after the accident and was seen right away. I was injured in a bike accident where the driver plowed into me on my side of the street when I was stopped at a stop sign in broad daylight! It is still unbelievable. I was not going to get a lawyer because I just wanted my medical bills paid. Well, the insurance company gave me a hard time right from the start. While riding my bike here in Seattle for the last 34 years I've been t-boned three times by cars and phsically injured twice since 2012. The first incident was on a sidewalk but I was not [physically] injured. The second and third incidents were both in crosswalks and I was substantially injured in both. The second episode not only destroyed my bike completely but caused a litany of injuries - some required surgery and others required years of recovery (eg: wrist). This was the point where it became clear that good legal help was paramount.
