Extremely disappointed in the customer service we received from this firm. Called for a consult on Wed May 16. Scheduled a 15-20 min call with someone who would take the details of our case and forward to the attorney that same evening. The woman who took our information was VERY unprofessional, abrupt and condescending on the phone leaving us feeling even worse. She told us the attorney would call us within 72 hours to discuss. Yesterday, May 29th, 13 days later we called back to find out status and was told we would receive a call by end of business today with further information from a supervisor. The supervisor called and told us they wouldn’t take our case. No explanation as to why or consideration for our situation. No referral to an attorney who may be better suited to take on such a large employer or suggestion of how we could retain assistance. Just a flat no. I understand that this case might not be for this firm but why make us wait 14 days to tell us they wouldn’t take our case? Especially when we have a very important deadline of June 6 to retain council. The good news is we have a union representative, a shop steward and former supervisor who have all advised to get an attorney and have referred us to an attorney who will moat likely take on this case since the union and HR have offered to assist because the treatment my significant other has received is so unacceptable and illegal. It’s very unfortunate that HKM came so highly recommended in the Seattle area to the point we waited longer than the timeframe they gave us and we were treated so poorly. I would not recommend this firm to anyone. Especially someone who is already going through a tremendous amount of stress being mistreated by their employer.

Was told I was going to receive a call from one of the attorneys on Friday, come Friday I call them asking where my call is, they have no idea who I am and have no record of me and I’m asked to be placed on hold for five minutes and end up sitting on hold for 20 minutes.

I eventually hung up.

If you're reading this review, you're likely considering having to make a very difficult decision such as I did when I committed myself to a wrongful termination suit against a very large, multi-million dollar a year company. By far, one of the most stressful decisions of my professional career. But when you're right and decide to take on such a company, you need to hire the best firm to fight for you and I found that at HKM.

I believe in honest reviews as well, so I'll admit that I did have some hiccups. I wasn't always "happy" with the initial attorney on my case. As it turns out, that individual left the firm anyway, and after voicing my opinions, my case was handled my Shemia Fagan herself with all the professionalism I could have hoped for out of an attorney, and all of my concerns were satisfied in a very short period of time!

I share the good and the bad if you will, because making the decision to sue for what's right for you will not be easy. It will not be fun. It will be time consuming and stressful.... Knowing all that, you must also know that the firm you chose to represent you will literally make or break your case—and Shemia Fagan and Margurite made sure that HKM stood by my side and they most certainly did, make my case! HKM addressing my "unhappiness" just stood to prove further how much they care about their clients' satisfaction, not just telling me what I wanted to hear to get me off the phone. Disrespectful and unprofessional firm that seems to have no problem lying to you and leading you on.
Don’t waste your time here, it’s clear that my business isn’t valued from the fact that I haven’t heard a thing from HKM since my intake call 5 weeks ago when I was told in the intake I would be hearing from them in 1-2 weeks at the most and my time-sensitive matter wouldn’t be a problem and they’d be able to help.

Bogus law firm. The reviews are fake. I've contacted these people before...they say it takes 48-72 for someone to get back to you, but after giving their "intake specialist" took my information, it only took them 15 minutes to send me a message stating that they can't represent me. I have a good claim. And they haven't represented me twice...and their "intake specialist" will literally ask your for your race..why does that matter ? This firm doesn't work with certain types of people, because as soon as I got off the phone with them, I got a call and another attorney took the claim. Do not contact these people. Especially if you're Black.

Intake process is very generic, cold and dismissive. It makes it impossible to talk to anyone unless you are among the elite that are allowed access. Very disappointing

After hours of research into Oregon law pertaining to my case, i contacted HKM Employment attorneys to seek consultation. As luck would have it i was contacted by Mrs. Shemia Fagan, (The very person that i had viewed and took instruction from via YouTube to be better prepared for my upcoming mediation ) We spoke for a bit regarding my claim, and i was impressed by her knowledge and straight forwardness. At that time i made the decision to employ her and have her assist me with the mediation process. Rather than feeling like just another grain of sand as most attorney's would treat their clients, Shemia went above and beyond to keep me in the proverbial "loop". I was receiving updates, instructions and encouragement, even on a Sunday, which I'm sure no other firm would ever dream of doing. This in itself made me more confident in my decision to hire her.
