It seemed to me that my case didn't matter to Robert Meyer because I was just one of several potential paydays.
BOLI notified me on September 13th that I had 90 days to file a lawsuit against my previous employer. Robert Meyer withdrew from my case approximately 54 days into this 90 day window. This left me without any legal recourse for being terminated in retaliation for reporting my boss’ fraud.
I asked Robert for an update on the case on September 6th. Robert said his investigator was still preparing a witness statement for my ex-coworker to sign. After asking for another update on October 4th, Robert informed me that my witness had still not signed my statement. Robert contacted me again on October 18th to let me know that we would still try to pursue the case. I asked Robert if he thought there was a case without my witness his reply was "I'm still somewhat optimistic that he'll come through if push comes to shove. So maybe we pursue it anyways. Gotta think about it a bit more." Finally, on November 7th, Robert called me and notified me that he was withdrawing from the case after "several attempts" to contact my witness (whatever that means). Three weeks of "attempted contact" seems a little unreasonable and like a waste of time when the window to file a suit is small and finite. Robert agreed to take my case on contingency in July. We spoke maybe five times about how the case was proceeding, and I got little to no information each time.
