I went in here to sit down with Attorney Paul Jackson for 2 separate PAID consultations regarding a joint divorce with minor children. His advice was the worst I have ever heard. The first time I sat down with him was in the beginning of the divorce to get general questions answered. He could answer most of those general questions, which was nice. Then, when I had all the paperwork filled out and was ready to file, I scheduled another consultation for him to look everything over. I was concerned about 2 very important areas: 1) the physical placement and 2) the child support and alimony calculations. I am warning you right now to NOT GO TO ATTORNEY PAUL JACKSON FOR ANY LEGAL ADVICE ABOUT THIS STUFF, NOR TO ASK HIM TO CHECK OVER YOUR PAPERWORK!!! I should have trusted my instincts. I could tell as he was going through that something was off - I know he didn’t know what he was talking about anymore. He really didn’t end up suggesting any changes, which was a disappointment for me at first. When I got to the courthouse to file all the paperwork, the woman filing suggested lots and LOTS of changes to be made — all in my benefit regarding the facts clearly stated in our documents, the placement for the children and the child support payments. I am fortunate to have found her that day. She knew MUCH more about the divorce process and PROTECTING MY RIGHTS than this LAWYER DID!!! So here’s my advice: if you get the feeling that he doesn’t know what he is talking about, it’s because he doesn’t! So beware!
